First if all, Wikipedia isn't reliable because any average Joe can just go in there and edit its contents. Jade is releasing an album in 2006 however, she's NOT doing a cover of Bold and Delicious.
And no, Sweetbox's music doesn't suck. If you give them a listen, their music is very good. So please stop the GEO bashing and be more sensible. You only heard the song that Geo composed for Ayu, not for Sweetbox. *Thanks to those who actually took the time to read this post before making any accusations.*

"rainy day" does indeed sound similar to The Close Encounters theme, but I think that it's just a coincidence.

hmm i wonder when the witchhunt for geo started?... does everyone here hate geo?
 personally I kinda like the direction ayu's taking with geo's compositions... His stuff is interesting even if it's not to everyone's tastes and i think ayu and his stuff work together well  IMO rainy day is a really good song. it's not super-duper-overly fantastic but it's great in a mellow kind of way... as the last song on missunderstood, it's perfect... after all the high-energy and faster tempo stuff. it's a great end song  I agree with lotsuoka, five notes is nothing... so many songs and musical pieces share similarities... even composers like mozart, beethoven, bach shared notes/chords/whole sections/etc in their pieces with each other... even the great beatles had similarities with those who came before them and their contemporaries... No offense, but i think everyone is kinda overreacting  and really of all things to sample, the close encounters theme??? It sounds a bit silly. don't take it the wrong way, I think John williams is a great composer  i just mean this is not sampling/plagiarism/copying. It's something called musical influence. like rent is influenced by singing in the rain. Haha IMO there are similarities btween rainy day and the close encounters theme, but they are not exact... it's not even a coincidence... Last edited by shadow*puppet; 22nd December 2005 at 09:00 PM.

I knew those notes sounded really familiar. Can't say that I'm suprised, since it is a GEO composition and after what was found out about Pride. However, the song is still very beautiful and there is a reason why he chose those 5 notes from close encounters to use - it's just a great melody that fits the mood of the song. Still though, no more GEO from now on please.

Five notes seems insignificant but in Pop songs FIVE little notes can mean the difference between a number one hit or a chart flopper. Five little notes can comprise the hook that is the soul of a pop song so don't go poopoo-ing 5 little notes.
And actually, Wikipedia is pretty reliable generally even though it can be edited by other people. It's not foolproof of course.
