I dont think it was supposed to look like the real thing, but more like an abstract substance that could be intepreted that way in the context given.

All of this makes alot of sense. It's obvious the video's about prostitutes and some women being hurt.

Though I have to say, I know that pretty much all of ayu's videos have meaning, whether or not it's connected to the song, but when I watched this video, I just thought that it was a pretty looking substance and it was just part of the video that didn't mean much. It's not like every single thing she wears, says and does has some kind of meaning.

I think it's just something that someone found, thought it looked cool and would look great in the video, whether or not it had much relevance.

Not trying to be rude or anything, but that's what I think^_^

Plus, It could be like representing the tears of all those prostitutes or the women that've been hurt, or it could have been a reference to this line in the song:

Laughing voices fill the air with white breath

Of course it wouldn't. Look how upset people get just thinking that it might represent semen. It doesn't have to look exactly like the substance to be a representation of it.

And I agree w/ Syphex. I do like the whole purity idea, but I think the semen idea fits much better w/ the lyrics and overall theme of the video.

Guys japanese TV is pretty strict when it comes to showing things that might represent male sexuality. Anything that is supposed to represent it pretty much gets censored, specially male genitals and semen. I don't think a video such as Because of you would have been aired in MTV japan like that if that white thing represented or was supposed to be semen. Also why in the hell would semen drip from the pipes? It isn't really any more logical to think that's semen over anything else just because the video has prostitutes (prostitutes drink milk too, they can use glues, and they can paint their houses white ).

Oh well after doing some research in my own mind I just reminded which substance looked exactly like that one from the PV: Propofol!!!!

Yeah the *****s in the PV are drug addicts and they somehow ended up discovering about this sleep inducing sedative anaesthesic and have become addicts to it in order to drown all of their bitterness and degrading life away, in a wrong way obviously. Somehow the "nice guys" discovered that these ladies were addict drug abbusers and put them into a locked mental hospital room to trereat ther dependency and/or rejected their pathetic love and threw the remaining stock of propofol they had down the drain, so part of it fell through the pipes, so much propofol did the prostitutes carry with themselves LOL However they are so dependent that in the end they hallucinate a wave of propofol flushing all over their bodies, poor souls they are, suffering an abstinence syndrome (yay for alternate interpretations!! )

But the thing is, it is NOT overtly presented. Even people on this forum can't figure out exactly what it is supposed to represent, so where would the grounds be for censorship? And really, from having lived in Japan, I saw many things all around that were completely all about male sexuality. Also, the semen overflowing from the pipes - once again, abstract expressionism. By the same logic, why would milk or purity be flowing from the pipes? Either way it would be an abstract expression.

Can't we just accept the fact that some people will choose to see the video as the prostitutes getting washed over by purity and others see it as the prostitutes or female society(especially in Japan) being overpowered by the men?

The white thing represents "dignity". These girls endure such a troubled relationship made of lies and they feel like prostitutes now (they aren't real prostitutes). It doesn't need to be semen to show that the girls are being overpowered, dignity would fit that same theme as well. It shows their dignity is going down the drain through the pipes (see, it fits, while semen doesn't). These girls pretend they are strong when actually they aren't, they've also been fooled by the guys they thought they knew, however their dignity is so messy that they still love him as much as they try to pretend not to. ayu even plays with her own dignity being wasted (after all it's her own fault for still being in love with a jerk as much as he has lied to her, she can't really erase him of her mind and that's why she mentions that "Because of him" she can't go back to the days she didn't know about him) . In the end all of their dignity is flushed and spoiled all over the room.

Oh well, i guess I'll hug my "propofol" theory

The way it looked, it looked like liquid paper. Or something like it to represent it. I think it's just soda or juice, some colored liquid, and then retouched on the computer to be white. i don't know.

Ever since I saw the video I got just one interpretation: The video is a critic to child prostitution. That's why you see all the confused/hurt prostitutes and the children's toys. The white stuff represents the milk that children drink and the semen that... you know. I know that's really crazy, but I watched the PV a lot and discussed with my friends here and everyone agreed. ^^
I think is really cool that Ayu stands up to that kinds of absurd of our world.

Well, there have been several times when the lyrics of her songs don't necassarily fit the PV.
