The Japan Gold Disc Awards (Japanese: 日本ゴールドディスク大賞, Nihon Goorudo Disuku Taishou) is one of Japan's most prestigious yearly award giving body. The Golden Disc awards is the equivalent of the western world's Grammy's.
Founded in 1987 by Record Industry Association of Japan, the winners is based on record sales which make them very credible, though, it is very much predictable who will win. They conducted their awarding ceremonies during the first quarter of the year (mostly during March. This is opposed to Nihon Record Taisho, which is a year-end awards ceremonies)
