I lot of people said it sounds like "fairyland". o_____o

Not at all, well at least to me. I hated "fairyland" but I like "BLUE BIRD". But I don't want to listen to it often... Because I know I'll get sick of it, and then hate it. Like other recent songs... LOL. Anyway, I really can't wait to see the covers... They better be nice. XD Same for the PVs!

People think it sounds like fairyland due to the similar electronic-y keyboard sound in the background I think xD

As well as the overall summerness. xD

People said Born to Be = fairyland.. and ANGEL'S SONG = fairyland.. o-o;;

Are all her upbeat-ish songs the same to people?! xD [no I do not mean pre-M.A]

I don't think any of them are very similar, apart from being upbeat-ish .

Going totally offtopic - I like the MY STORY cover, but I agree on what you say XD.

I'd laugh, too, if CREA was the composer of this song, but more out of happiness than out of anything else .

Hmmmmmmmm....

Well, it beats Fairyland. I like it, but am not blown away by it...at least not yet (sometimes songs take a few listens to really make an impression on me)

I agree with everyone who says that the chorus seems a bit awkward. It's not just the melody / arrangement / whatever the term is, it's her voice as well. Sometimes it jumps up and down the notes in an odd fashion--sorry I can't be more technical, but I don't have much of a music background. ._. I think her vocals are quite nice during the rest of the song, and even during the end of the chorus.

To me, the song did not turn out as generic sounding as I thought it might, so I'm happy. But I think she should stop saying "la la" during her songs....it's getting old now.

CREA would be a surprise, but I'm not saying it's not possible. Either way I won't like the song, I'm not one to like a song just because CREA composes it.

My guess for composer is Kazuhito Kikuchi and for arranger, HAL. I love Kaz, but I don't know, I have a feeling it's him.

Yeah, it should be obvious this song doesn't have a new arranger.

I've already explained how yes, composition wise those songs are quite similar. Doesn't mean I think they are bad, just repetitive and that she is capable of creating more original tracks that would still have the "summery" feeling.

i really think that Blue Bird is way better than fairyland, ooooh...plz dont mention B&D to me....

To be honest, if B&D was not sung by Ayu, i wouldnt listen to it....

i think Startin/Born to be is better than B&D/Pride

and i'm sure Blue Bird is better than S/B & B/P.........BUT!!!!I doubt that Blue blird is worth the 40TH SINGLE~~the 40TH SINGLE deserves something much great~~

Really, it's not (except for the use of electroonics). Let's look at fairyland. Yes the intro starts out with increasing volume, but she starts singing right on. The melody is obiously not the same at all as blue bird' verse (the melody is very diffrent throughout the song). THen the bridge. THen the these two are repeated again before the chorus. there's a instumental thing before verse + bridge + chorus i repeated again. Then there's a long "break" in the song which lasts a bit too long IMO. Afterwords bass drum picks up and there's a guitar solo and the chorus is repeated with less percussion, before the final two chorus' are sung with the same music as in the first chorus', short instrumental and finish.

BLUE BIRD starts with a cute instrumental part where a melody is played. SHe then sings the verse once the bridge once and the chorus once. Also the percussion comes in later (in the chorus) than i fairyland (second part of the first chorus/bridge part). Also the added lalas after the chorus is different (although it's kind of a part of the instrumental part). After this the verse + bridge + chorus is repeated then there's a break like in fairyland, but much shorter luckily, the bridge is repeated more mellowly (not like the chorus like in fairyland), then the chorus is repeated twice. The use of instruments is also somewhat different. The more "old school" sounding "drum (I don't know its name in english =P) is used in BB in fairyland there's a more mellow use of everything.

Fairyland is more than a minute longer than BLUE BIRD. I always thought fairyland was too long.

How the melodies are really different shows f.ex in the chorus where in fairyland the first almost same passages are repeated the first two 8 beats then another passage which lasts for 16 beats in which the two first four are quite the same. Then it all is repeated. BLUE BIRD has a different structure: its melody in the chorus can be splitted up in two parts, the first 8 beats (let's call them A) and the second 8 beats (it's B). The structure of the chorus is like this: A B A B B. So the same stuff is not repeated like in fairyland.

Stil though, this type of composition isen't uncommon, but it's not like fairyland. I understand well how they can "sound" the same, but really, they're not more alike than any two of her rock songs.

I very unsure of which part of the ayu discography this song reminds me of. It hasen't got the "creepy" and dark parts most of the songs from RAINBOW has, I thought of the old stuff from f.ex duty and LOVEppears, but obiously it has a more modern and fuller sound, though I must admit this is a bit hard to make out from a LQ version. ALthough I think it's hard to place it, the songs that I think it sounds alike are AUDIENCE and Angel's song. I really woulden't know about BTB, because I thought the song was quite unlistenable, so it's hard for me to compare (I coulden't take the loud BOOOOORN to be FREEE! screaming).

I never said the melody of fairyland and Blue Bird were the same, I said that the instrumentation and feeling of the song were similar. The melody of Born to Be though, is quite similar to Blue Bird's chorus.(from where she starts saying takara no michi in Born to Be) In fact it sounds like almost the same thing only Blue Bird's is slightly slower, and actually the durations at those points in the songs are almost exactly the same and if Blue Bird were slightly sped up to match the same speed, they would be the same duration.

And yes even with those slight differences you mentioned, fairyland and Blue Bird's structure are still essentially the same. It's still verse-chorus-verse-chorus-instrumental-bridgy thingy-chorus-close - but that is the structure of most of her songs these days anyway, not just the pop songs. I've wished for a while now that she would do more songs that messed with the structure, like Surreal. However, she has had some songs that are so good that you don't even realize you are hearing the same structure over and over again.(Will, alterna)

That's only because the instrumental section of fairyland is over a minute long.

I think it sounds like most of her ultra poppy songs released post Rainbow, ie Angels Song, Replace, fairyland and the like - you basically could have substituted anyone of those songs into your comparison instead of using fairyland I think.

But all of this aside, my main point has always been, that yes this song isn't bad and it can be fun. But that I think at this point in Ayu's career, she needs more than that - especially with all the Koda stuff happening. She needs to have a song that is really going to grab the public and make them want to get to the store to buy it and not have it be something that the general public feels like they have heard from her multiple times before.

@*petit* I'm very happy someone actually went through all that, I was far too lazy to do it myself, thanks .

There are similarities, but I think they can be summarised by that the songs are all pop-ish up-beat
