What does mean being a true fan?

I am wondering if being "a real Ayu fan" means loving ALL her songs?

What do you think?

I must honestly admit, I'm not in love with her latest album...

Absolutely not in any way do you have to love all her songs. The only thing that matters is what you consider yourself, nothing else.

Some people will say that a true fan is
"having everything, loving everything, being obbsessed"

but i dont think that, i think being a true fan is listening to everything of an artist and enjoying most of it

True Fan, those are the current definitions of the words, but the definition of words change with the flow of the people.

From knowing the definitions you can make your own picture of what a true fan is. I personally don't care about the definitions of those words, if a person was to tell me he/she is a "true fan" I would take him/her by his/hers word, whatever the reason.

If anyone need to know if he or she is a true fan, I could judge for you if you like .

Yeah, I agree with the ones above. ^_^ I don't think being a true fan is a matter of how much albums/other stuff do you own or if you like all the songs and everything by that artist. I don't think that's even possible to like every song of some artist. I mean there has to be even some songs you don't like that much. Well, I don't know... And I don't think it depends on how much stuff you have. Some people might want like all her albums and singles, but can't afford it. Some people do afford it and buy all. So is the second one 'a better fan' than the first one? I don't think so.

I don't like all her songs or music videos or even hair styles and I don't have her whole discography. But I still consider myself as "a true fan". I love Ayu and she means a lot to me, I enjoy her work and she makes me laugh, cry, feel happy and everything. She's my idol. Isn't that "enough"?

I think that you don't have to love everything Ayu, then that would probobly make you look.. obsessive.. o__O; But you could still love everything, anyways =D

I always thought a true fan was someone who loves Ayumi Hamasaki and would support her even though you might not love every single song.

Well, Melinda said it better xD

Honestly, to be a good fan is just to be honest with what she does. If you like it, say you like it. If you don't, then say you don't. [like with my and her UGLY ASS A MUSEUM HAIR and her UGLY ASS MY STORY COVERS]

~_~ Except sometimes people are too 'honest' and they just end up looking like Ayu-hating idiots. :/

There are differences between Ayu fans, 'true' Ayu fans, obsessive Ayu fans, and Ayu fan-collectors. Just really really.. subtle differences.

I think that's just an "obsessive" fan and not a "true" fan.

I completely agree. I think that it helps a lot if you just point out that her faults and give suggestions on she should improve (constructive criticism).

I also agree that it's not about how much you own also. I think it's just your "uniqueness" in being an Ayu fan. If you only became a "fan" to collect all her stuff, you sound more like a "CD collector" instead.

Well, obsessive fans are the ones that are.. CREEPY.

The ones that try looking like Ayu and shun anything that ISN'T Ayu. Basically, if you love EVERYTHING Ayu, that's not too obsessive, but when it goes overboard to the point where you live Ayu.. then it's a bit weird [Yes, I mean like, LIVE Ayu. You have like Ayu towels, clothing, bathroom hygiene products.. you try getting her clothes and stuff.. x.x]

:] Yay~ xD

well, for me, a true fan is someone that respects her decisions, admires her for what she is (not what she could be), and is truthful in how they feel about her work.

On the other hand it would be funny to have Ayu-towels in bathroom XD I wouldn't mind it
Of course, in my case it's not an obsession... This topic I created is an outcome of my observations of the forum's community... You must agree with me, that most of posts in news category sounds like "Oh wow, Ayu's new hair's SO AWESOME!"
or
"This -i.e. Carols- is my fav Ayu song! Okay, all of them are my favs XD"
and so on...
I'm reading it, and reading it... that's why I'm so confused
I also think real fan doesn't have to like each song without a word, even in couple weeks before hearing it for the first time.. I wanted to know what do you people think of it.
Thanks for expressing your mind

people want you to believe that you have to like all her albums to be a fan but you don't and that goes with any artist not just ayu. Its always good to be honest about her work especially if you are trying to get someone else into her music you want to recommend what you feel is good and then let them explore the others for themselves

Well, can you really call yourself a fan when you don't like any of the material..?

It's a bit.. odd.. isn't it? X3

Just my two cents.
