I got the article from SCawaii August 2005 and translated the part where she mentions Matsumoto shave ice from when she was in Hawaii 5 years prior (didn't translate the whole article for this, so the sentence may sound odd and out of context):


With this timeline, she was there in 2000. Feel free to double check my translation.

I guess...This picture took from 2000 when ayu went to Hawaii to shot "SURREAL" PV. There was a tv program from Japan which has talked about it.

I don't understand why ayu only goes to few cities in US only. LA, NYC, and Hawaii. Why can't her go to other countries and cities instead of those?
England, Brazil, Spain, Italy are also good choices to go!

^ she has gone to other places, including HK, Taiwan and Thailand. She only goes to America recently for work reasons (ie photoshoots, PV, etc). It's probably her own preference. But obtaining permission to shoot photos/videos may also have to do with it.

The "Dearest" PV was definitely filmed in Los Angeles. The windmills are specifically in Palm Springs. Those turbines are a common sight in many film ventures because it's not easy to find a windmill farm like that. While she was there filming "Dearest", she was also able to fit in photography sessions for a number of magazines (so she didn't go to LA for two different trips in 2001 and 2002)

I've never heard of her going to Germany to film Daybreak and haven't read any articles talking about Germany, so maybe someone else has more details on that PV?

But the 2003 calendar was definitely shot in NYC (too bad it's so photoshopped, the background looks fake)
