Ayumi's back-up chicks...

Just some random thoughts...

The back-up chicks...The ones that sing with her in live performances? Yeah...I don't really understand why she keeps them around. She used to only have her own voice playing the backups in the background...and I really liked it that way. Having those two sing with her gives it an unnatural sound...

For example, during the HANABI performance of a-nation 2004, when the guitarist USUALLY has his solo (I guess when Ayumi is changing), instead they gave those chicks a kind of..duet together. And they sounded BAD, in my opinion...I mean, it was embarrassing for me to watch. Does anyone else share this opinion, or better -- does anyone think that they're worth keeping around? (making for some good conversation..)

I suppose I just wonder why she chose those two, when there are obviously better (AND, no offense, more attractive) people to sing back-up for her out there...

On another thought, why does Ayumi have this back-up dancer group all of a sudden?

By the way, I'm sort of a new member, so nice to meet you all.

haha those are Peco and um... whats the name of the other girl .princess something XD XD

well Peco makes the coreography(sp?) of alot of ayu songs.. and the other girl has a nice voice.. they are like ayus friends.... i hope you get it

and the dancer group has been with ayu since the first tour.. of course the members have changed since then.... you know

Yeah, I kind of recognize some of the dancers, but weren't there...like many more than appear in her videos? I believe she just recently started having them appear frequently in her videos...more power to her for that, lol...They seem to be close friends.

Now, her back-up singers aren't the same ones that danced in her Real me video, correct? Those two are from TRF, if I'm thinking right...

I don't remember though...

yes they are Chiharu & Etsu from TRF.. and well you said it.. back up singers.. and this are Back up dancers

Peco has been with Ayumi for a long time, since at least 2001. It was only around a few years ago that we began to see Peco more in the spotlight with Ayumi. They are definitely good friends and Peco is a choreographer for Ayumi. Some attribute Ayumi's revolving taste in dancing/music to Peco.

I think she used to just have this random set of black people be her back up singers... then shortly after in like A MUSEUM she began using the Yoko/Peco combo. I think Ayu likes them, and thinks that they complement her voice best.

I think they're good. It's good they're not better than Ayu because I doubt Ayu would want backup singers that would outstage her appearance and singing.

^Agreed. they're not the best visually nor vocally, but they're for sure Ayu's friends and part of the Ayu "team" in concerts. It's fun to watch them.

They might not look all that great and they don't sing all that great either, but I'm sure that Ayu really enjoy their present. They seem really close. But yeah, they can get quite annoying...

Well, the reason for why the two of them are kind of ugly is because if they were gorgeous they might "outshine" Ayu, and certainly Ayu and her producers would not like that.

I agree that their voices do not match Ayu's at times. Sometimes they sound and look really stupid when they take 3 minutes out of a concert just to go "woooah wooah wwwoooooaahhh yeeaaah" It's like someone is not allowing them to actually sing words.

i dislike both of them. both are old freaks. but i must say Peco really is a good singer. she moves with the song freely and can dance very well (although much of time its exaggerating). Princess Yoko seems to be like a block of wood.

I agree, can't have the backup singers more beautiful than ayu, otherwise, everyone would stare at the backup singers the whole time and make ayu the third wheel, the short and dull one...she'll be left behind in the dust, and no matter how loud or how well she sings, the spotlight will fall on the backup singers and leave Ayu alone and oh so lonely and a dark corner with no one there to console her, all cold and hungry and so depressed.........haha, kidding, I like to exaggerate!

Anyways, the backup singers are Ayu's friend, think of what kind of person Ayu would be portrayed as if she ditches her friends and have them replaced because they make her concert less appealing...

i really enjoy of having backup singers it makes the concerts sound really LIVE..you know...more enjoyable and ayu seems energetic because she needs to cooperate with her crew as well as her audience on the same time..

i love the idea of having back up singers to jam all around you..that's great..

I think they ballance her voice out nicely. For example in the Rainbow live, it just won't be the same without the backup singers. Plus it gives it a more raw, live-ish feeling. But each to their own.

And of course, they can't be vocally or physically more attractive than Ayu because then they'll risk attracting attention away from her.

I don't like them - they're awful singers and I usually skip their random 'woh-woh' bits because sometimes those parts are just too long.
