i do have exactly 3 ayu diocumentaries, they are
NTV Special Report 2000
NTV Report 2004
and the face on every billboard.

are this all documentaries that exist?? I wish to see more. And ayu is so famous there just have to be more documentaries! something like a mtv masters...

There are very few times when Ayumi reveals much about herself or her past, which would explain the lack of documentaries and deeply involved interviews. There are probably a couple reasons for this -- 1) image control. She and Avex probably don't want too much revealed because that would kill her 'queen of jpop' and 'diva' image, 2) Ayumi herself probably doesn't want the public to know. No one ever asks her about her pre-Avex career anymore because her management most likely put a ban on such questions.

I know, it's quite frustrating. It's like that time period never exisisted or that it was someone elses life. Yet everyone knows that was Ayumi, yet are expected to pretend that it never happened?

^Think about it, hehe. There's bound to be a lot of watchers if it's about Ayumi. Watchers + Advertisement = $$$, whatever you want to see Ayumi in you'd most likely have to pay a fat sum for it .

I read most japanese TV shows have scripts, but Hikki did a pretty honest interview at Top Runner, so I dunno...

And I think SOME shows pay the artists for their appearence, but not all of them. I don't know which, music shows? Kouhaku pays...

I don't think they pay her for interviews... but I guess questions about her childhood are banned? I dunno, she seems to enjoy talking about it, even if she says it's very painful. But her teenage years are very "shady" and even how she went to AVEX. She went to a karoke, met a very important producer, he decided to pay for her classes, she didn't attended and then he send her to NY? That's a little confusing...
