AMAZING Hyde show on the Sunset Strip! 7/3

Just got back from the 2nd Hyde show in America and while the one in Anaheim was great (even though I couldn't see much), this show was EXCELLENT. One of the best concerts I have seen from anyone, possibly even THE best concert I have seen. (including Ayumi)

Hyde looked incredible. He really looks better in person than in pictures (if that is even possible.) And while I generally don't like the insane Hyde fan girls, even I had to fan girl out a bit when Hyde came out to do the encore shirtless! Shirtless Hyde, yay!

And even though Hyde is only 5'1", when he is on stage he seems so much bigger, that's how much stage presence he has.

Luckily it looks like this show will be released on DVD. There were more cameras around than at the Anaheim show and they made several announcements in both English and Japanese that no photos would be allowed at all. There was also a sign posted on the door stating that upon entering you were agreeing to allow yourself to be filmed. (I don't remember seeing that sign at the Anaheim show and they also did not make a lot of announcements about people taking pictures.) So I reeeeaaally hope that this show is going to find release on DVD so everyone else can see how great it was.

I'm too tired right now to go into a whole lot of detail, but I'll try to write more tomrrow. Also, I had a Japanese celebrity sighting after the show and it wasn't Hyde or a member of his band...

This is the set list to the best of my memory - the ones with * next to them are the ones that I am SURE of their order:

Jesus Christ *
Sweet Vanilla *
Made in Heaven *
Seasons Call *
Evergreen (rock version) *
Dolly
It's Sad
Perfect Moment
Faith *
Lucy in the Sky w/ Diamonds *
Hello *
Prayer * (This song was not played at the Anaheim concert)
Midnight Celebration *
Encore -
Countdown *
Hideaway *
Unexpected *

Shirtless? O__o
I bet that really made the audience's day.

I'm not a big fan of Hyde, but I would like to see him myself too =P.

I went to the Fillmore show as well. Why did you think it was "Just OK"? I didn't like it quite as much as the Sunset Set show, but it was pretty close I thought.

Hi : )

I wasn't amazed by the Hyde show at all, that's why I said it was OK. The opening "haunting" music I thought was kinda bad and his voice wasn't that splendid that night. I liked the fact that he eventually moved by my side of the stage (far right) and looked at the audience for a bit while singing. I didn't feel the show like I had others there at the Fillmore -- and I didn't feel a connection with Hyde all that much. I was also harassed three times by security who thought that my electric fan was a recording device, and that annoyed me. I had lots of fun with my uncle there, but the show itself wasn't the best. Maybe if I were a bigger Hyde fan then I would have been more excited.

On another note I had seen P!nk a week prior to the Hyde show at the Fillmore and the show was great. She connected with the audience and she took time after the show to meet her fans outside the venue and take pix and sign stuff. I waited to just see Hyde and I thought he was being a diva by basically just getting inside his fan and leaving with little emotion or gratitude to the 30+ people waiting to see him; Puffy was worse during their departure from the Fillmore in 2004 and 2005.

If the show will be on DVD I'd buy it.

My sister went to the Anaheim show... she thought it was just spectacular, could NOT stop talking about it. Commented on his cute bits of speaking bad english to the audience. "I am happy to see me... YOU! I'm happy to see you! gah!" XD

You and I had completely different reactions then, because I actually thought his voice was excellent on all three nights(it was better than he sounded on the Otakon '04 DVD), one of the best live voices I have ever heard actually and I've been to several concerts. I also went into these concerts not particularly loving his Faith album, but the performances of those songs made me a fan and now I love the album. I also felt that he had a great connection with the audience as even I up in the balcony could feel it. I'm not sure what "haunting" music you are talking about. Just the classical music that they played between sets?

Sure, it would have been nice if he stuck around after the show, but I don't fault artists at all when they don't - Hyde has always been extremely shy and private so I wouldn't have expected him to hang around. In fact you rarely hear about any major Japanese artists meeting fans after a show. Someone asked the Black List Club lead singer what Hyde was like and he described him as "very nice but also very quiet and shy."

btw, no ones asked me who the celebrity was that I saw. lol. It was Yoshiki, founder and primary song writer of legendary band X-Japan. After the concert I was waiting right next to him to get my car back from the valet. We were there like that for about 15 minutes, only I didn't realize who was next to me until I watched him get into his car! (my mind was still distracted by Hyde. ^_^) A few other girls recognized him too and started screaming. He looked up, shocked that someone had finally recognized him, smiled at us and then got in his car.
