Smile Ai Otsuka's subbed videos!

Latley, I have become more and more intrested in Ai Otsuka! I have one of her singles (neko ni fuusen) and my order of LOVE COOK and Planetarium have just shipped out!

I never realized until I read her translations and watched her subbed videos how beautifully written her lyrics really are. My theory is she's so good because she has a teaching degree ^___^! Her lyrics are so full of visuals, I can see pictures in my head when I read the translations! Some singers have very rehashed, generic, cliche lyrics but most of Ai's songs are very in tune with sensory details. I decided to post some of her subbed PVs so those who are new to Ai Otsuka's lyrics can be just as suprised as I was !

Also, you may want to watch the vids first so you know what I'm talking about and there are spoilers under the link!

Daisukidayo
I decided to start with a classic . This song is very touching to me. I wouldn't really consider it her best as far as imagery but I can understand why people cry when they hear this, I definatly teared up! The part at the end when she says "zutto zutto zutto zutto zutto zutto daisukidayo" is touching.

Cherish
This is one of Ai's more gothic styled songs. Like Daisukidayo, I don't know if I consider it having her strongest lyrics ever, but it has a few lines that are truely beautiful.

Planetarium
This song is my favorite by Ai. The lyrics and PV are amazing and I get chills everytime I listen. I actually just got them right now XD! It really touches me deep everytime she says "I won't cry", then finally at the end she says "I want to cry", and the wind causes her to turn around and look at the shooting stars. This song is just amazing on so many levels to me.

neko ni fuusen
As far as lyrics goes this is right on par with Planetarium! She refers to herself as a cat the whole song, which gives you so many visuals of Ai as a cat on the street understanding the world around her. I've always loved this song, but when I saw these lyrics I fell in love with it all over again. It hits me hard at the end when her spirt goes back in her body and she dies .

Kingyo Hanabi
This is another song that uses visuals to sweep you away. The lyrics and the PV connect so well. At the end she goes to touch a boy's hand, he stands up and doesn't notice. Then the underwater "kingyo" Ai falls over and dies, which is visually amazing the way she translated the lyrics into the PV.

Here's just a couple of fun Ai songs subbed:
