More American music, what do you listen to/like already?

Only American, not European?

Tori Amos <3

She's seriously one of the most talented American artists out there. She always comes up with something new and quirky. Plus she writes, composes and produces all her music. I'm just in love with her

Just look for her name on youtube. She pops up a lot lol

I like Mandy Moore's newer stuff. So Real album was too poppy for my liking, and her voice was well controlled, but she later proved to have a very nice voice and sung very nice songs.

Also M2M. They're a duo of girls, and they compose and write their own lyrics, as well as play the piano and guitar.

Tori Amos of course... however, she has a few songs that go against your numbers 1 and 2... but you should give her a try anyway, she's my favorite artist after all.

Yes, Tori Amos indeed. She's somewhat of a legend already.

Madonna's new stuff is great, Get Together is <3 just like Hung Up. Madonna's stuff post-2000 are also excellent.
Other than that, I think Natalie Imbruglia too, although only 2 of her CDs were released in the US. She's more of a UK artist.
Yes, the UK is good and I recommend like 37468374 artists from that region.

EDIT: OMG, I forgot. Evanescence, the guy in my siggy was featured in their latest video, Call Me When You're Sober. That song is awesome!

Fiona Apple. Nelly Furtado's older stuff (and recent stuff, though "Promiscuous" goes against your first rule) is nice, too.

Christina Aguilera? her voice is brilliant, and her "Back To Basics" album isn't as raunchy as "Stripped"

if you like pop/rock you could give Kelly Clarkson -- her stuff is great too

Delta Goodrem has great music too -- she's an Australian singer... try "innocent eyes", "born to try", "mistaken identity", "out of the blue"

Michelle Branch is another pop/rock artist, but I love her stuff -- "everywhere", and "all you wanted" are worth listening to

Robyn has a funky Gwen Stefani-style music, so I'm not sure if you'd like it, but "be mine" is a really cute song

hope i'm of help, if you want some recommendations of songs from the artists listed, let me know!

Oh yah, her new album is really catchy, Be Mine and Who's That Girl rock. But she's not American, she's from Sweden .

Plus Delta's Australian too. There are many amazing Australian artists. The Veronicas also follow your rules. And there's a nice up-and-coming artist called Stephanie McIntosh. Both of these two acts perform easy to digest mainstream rock music.

Besides that, I strongly recommend Lily Allen. Other than foul language, she is simply AMAZING. Her music will be going to the US early next year since it's already a big UK hit and her single was also an Australian hit. She's a summer tunes girl with clever use of samples. A genius really.

^lol, was just about to say the same

Lily Allen has a great voice and I like her songs.

If you like a bit more rockish, I can recommend Lacuna Coil, they have amazing songs eventhough I'm not a huge fan of this type of rock

And Hip-Hop kind of style featuring instruments and lovely voices, RJD2

Lacuna Coil are quite good, I like that kind of music but a bit heavier, say Nightwish. I havent heard very much of Tool, but the little I've heard reminds me a bit of Lacuna Coils style, might also be something to try out.

Er.. well, American music you said, I don't know about Lacuna or Tool, but Nightwish are from Finland .

Well I personally say you should try:
Mary J. Blige
Mariah Carey
Christina Aguilera
Keyshia Cole
Robin Thicke (When his album comes out)
Joss Stone (Well she isn't American but she can sing really good)

I'd add Diana Krall. She's a jazz pianist singer from Canada.
