I don't think Ayu is interested in being a very international icon. Maybe she likes the US because she once studied in New York, and the US has always been more influentional in the music scene than any other country. Because she doesn't travel to other countries such as the UK doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate her fans in that country.

While that might be part of it, which I think we'd all like to believe, in the end it's all up to avex.

They hold the money.

No promotion overseas = no international breakthrough.

Also, she's less known overseas than most overseas fans like to think. She doesn't really have any possibility here, not if she's to rely on the people who already know about her. Tons of promotion would be needed.

She could show her Appreciation in Japan.

Apparently Hikaru Utada came to the UK but I do not know what happened.
If Avex know how many fan she has over seas then they might consider it.

Utada went to the UK and released a single. "You Make Me Want To Be A Man" was promoted very terribly and the price was ridiculously high for a single. So it charted at #227. That's like 8 copies? Album also failed so badly that no news was heard about it ever again. Such a shame given that her single garnered a lot of positive reviews.

Didn't ayu attend the European Music Awards once, with M? ... I remember Ronan Keating being host, so I can't imagine it could have been in the US?! ...
That actually means ayu performed in Europe once - and I don't think she has ever done that in the US? ... Soo ... EU 1 - US 0? ^^;;;

Some of you people need to realise, and make truth, that Ayu is a Japanese Artist, and not an International Artist. I know you love to dream about her becoming an International Artist, but I sincerly am sorry to state, that I doubt she'll ever be an international artist.

Why was Ayu at the European Music Awards? this award is for European music only.

Maybe if we all keep sending Emails and letters to Avex and/or TeamAyu they might do somthing.

Hmmm... It's Singapore MTV award show or sumething like this, i think. But i'm really sure it's in Singapore...

Ayu was never at an European MTV award, I'm pretty much very sure about that. She's been to several of the Asian ones, though.
