Well, I guess 'out there' can kind of mean something good or bad..

Usually I think of out there in that sense too, but in this case, it's an awkward 'out there', like these videos have deviated from the norm of Ayu PVs [which are generally in the category of the 'good' out there]... so I use it. I could always substitute it with like.. inconsistent with previous works or something. :B

That was what surprised me the most about Ayus PVs when I first started looking at them, they were actually not boring to watch, at all. Compared to the crap usually seen on MTV here her PVs are out of the box. I agree on that Born To Be... is very boring to watch, BLUE BIRD isn't fun either, Startin' just ticks me off for some reason. In Beautiful Fighters you could actually follow some kind of story, but overall it was 'okay'.

I think it probably has to do with directors.. and this year was a bit of an 'off year' for PVs.

I think 2004 was a slightly off year comparable to this one. Not as bad, but still slightly bad. Moments was amazing, and then INSPIRE was kinda so-so not wellreceivedish as GAME was.. [but at least the final product was like, GOOD looking.] CAROLS was.. okay, I guess. I think Masashi Muto did that one? He seems like a director to really go with many styles.. [and the album PVs.. although sort of rushed, looked good and FELT like Ayu PVs unlike this set of 2006 PVs.]

I think the 'boredom' that the PVs this year creates in people is because it's the same people doing the PVs for like.. four consecutive PVs. Takahide needs to stop working with Ayu NOW. He might've made an okay PV with Ami Suzuki's TO BE FREE but that was a while ago. Now he just.. stinks.

[Yeah, he kinda stunk before when he did the UNITE! promotional clip too >>]
I PRAY for the revival of talented directors.. Wataru Takeishi is always a must, as is Kouki Tange or Tetsuo Inoue.
If this mini-album was planned from the beginning [since (m)u came out], it could've been that they skimped on the budget for all the singles' PVs in order to splurge on the album ones..

Please let my theory be correct

Very possible, it might effect us in a subcounscious way.

I agree, especially on INSPIRE, it really was like GOOD looking. You have caught a preference for brackets above parenthensis recently?

Let's write a complaint to avex and see if they kick him!

Same here, when I got the complete clip box and was able to watch Ayu's PVs from the beginning I enjoyed watching them, there was something interesting about most of them. Some were artistic, others had good plots. These last few PVs since B&D weren't interesting to watch.

Money was probably an issue that led to the repeated use of the same director four times, like I said before.

It's not like he's a good director, he's probably just a cheap one that they could get easily.

I do believe that the PV quality might be switched up, whereas the 'album PVs' are usually the ones that have less of a budget.. perhaps they wanted to experiment by giving the album's own PVs more attention than the single ones..

(PVs can so ruin a good song. :<)

^Quite a number of things from Ayu has recently seemed pretty cheap. But quite a number have also seemed very well made and expensive, like for example AT06 which is one of the most expensive tours ever, I think I heard... rumor.

Funny thing that Bold & Delicious, I think, was the first Ayu PV I ever watched ... I'm pretty sure. And I loved every bit of it, haha. Well, I can see now how it might be boring compared to her other PVs, the entertainment value of it equals BLUE BIRDs ... well, I still love it, bit o nostalgy I believe, haha.

I'm guessing that the sheer amount of PVs also has to do with it.

1998 - poker face, YOU, Trust, For My Dear.., Depend on You
1999 - WHATEVER, LOVE~destiny~, TO BE, Boys&Girls, appears, kanariya
2000 - Fly high, vogue, Far away, SEASONS, SURREAL, M
2001 - evolution, Endless sorrow, Dearest
2002 - Daybreak, Free&Easy, Connected, Voyage, Real me
2003 - RAINBOW, ourselves, Greatful days, HANABI~episode II~, forgiveness, No way to say, Because of You, ANGEL'S SONG
2004 - Moments, INSPIRE, GAME, CAROLS, walking proud, About You, Humming 7/4
2005 - STEP you, is this LOVE?, fairyland, alterna, HEAVEN, Bold&Delicious, Pride, Ladies Night, rainy day

2006 - Startin', Born to Be.., BLUE BIRD, Beautiful Fighters

In recent years, she's had SO many..

M's verses need a whole lot more drama. So a rearrangement would work splendid.

HANABI has the same problem, more instruments during the verses would improve it.

Powder Snow should be remade with different instruments and vocals. It has awesome melodies and it shouldn't be wasted.

Well, we'd still have the old versions here, coupled with the new ones it'd be perfect I think.
Exactly my answer

Been a lot of shouting about Ayu re-releasing NOTHING FROM NOTHING recently. I'd also like to see that done. Maybe a double CD album, one CD is the original and the other is the CD re-arranged/sung.
