Well personally I have to say Madonna has the best concert I have seen her Drawn the World Tour and ayu kinda copy her out fit on the 2001 Arena tour! And then I have seen both Re-Invention and the latest Confession tour and I have say BY FAR!!!! Confession tour is the TOP!!! the confession tour is AMAZGING!!! The visual the technology the dancers are just AMAZING!! The whole package is just awesome!! But at the same time I have to say that Madonna has been in this business for the what last 30 some years or 40?? And that is a good thing for ayu just because then we know there is room for ayu to improve. But at the same time I have to say in ayu's concert it's not just going there and watch her sing is to sing with her and I think not a lot of artist can accomplish things like that! So YAY!! GREAT JOB AYU!!

yeah, lots of people can make concerts as good as or better than ayumi's. if you've got stars in your eyes and think that ayumi is the best artist ever, than sure you'll think her tours are unmatched. but from a concert stand-point, madonna, cher, britney, and lots of other artists rival ayumi. i'm not saying that one artist is better than another, and ayumi's concerts are great, but don't think she's the best.

I don't know. It's always hard for me to compair Ayu to other artists or bands because each have such different styles. But I definitly think that Ayu's tours are better than Kuu's!

Ayu is a definitely a prominent stage act - more so visually. But you know, she works hard, and she actually sings all of the songs on her setlist - without lipsynching, which is good. Still, she isn't the strongest vocally, but she puts a lot of energy and heart into her concerts. I was in awe when watching Dome Tour, still gives me goosebumps today, and that's just watching the DVD without even being there.

Japan has other excellent live performers too though. MISIA puts on a good show. And B'z are amazing. The LIVE GYM's are SPECTACULAR. The crowds are huge, and the audience energy is very exciting, especially compared to Ayu's (they seemed to have loosened up though). And Koshi Inaba of course, is an amazing performer. Excellent vocals and stage presence.

MJ kills though. I don't know if I was dreaming this or not... But in one of his concerts, (was it Live in Bucharest?) he flew off into the sky with a jetpack on and just made his exit.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not into Ayu's tours at all. I mean, I love to watch her live and on-stage or whatnot, but the whole dancer, costume, set thing isn't my scene. I prefer watching her perform on tv. Ayu is the only performer I can stand who does those types of concerts.

Her tours aren't spontaneous. It's almost as you seen the whole performance before it even starts. What I'm trying to say is her tours are too expected. I always expect Ayu to be in an over-the-top costume dancing with 54354 people wearing all sorts of costumes. When a blalad comes on I expect her to be sitting or hanging from the air with a long flowy gown.

Ayu should go rockstar. Do whatever she wants then stage dive

^ Well Ayu has kinda done a plain concert with the Secret Team Ayu live performance. x3 Her outfits are sometimes tacky and over the top but her stage presence is as good as any of the mega western stars like Madonna or Kylie. x3

In the Jpop world, right? Cos worldwide, there are lots of tours that are bigger than Ayu's. I mean, some of us can say Madonna concerts aren't as good as Ayu, but that's the minority opinion, the opinion of a huge Ayu fan. Maybe I would preffer an Ayu concert, but I have to admit Madonna's concert are MUCH bigger and Ayu concerts are TOTALLY influenced by Madonna's past tours. Her Arena Tour 2002 was pratically a mini-version of Madonna's 2001 tour.

Anyway, in the Jpop world: Matsutoya Yumi tours are pretty big in general. Some are more intimate, but she did some huge ones with ice rinks and swimming pools in the middle of the stage (Shangrila). Gackt also does some huge concerts, like his Dome concert last year, I'm not a fan of his music, so the concert didn't had the same impact Ayu concert had (to me), but it was certainly very big. Creative-wise, Utada Hikaru last concert (Utada United) was much more creative than Ayu's: the sets and the intros were very new, while anything on Ayu last tour was very new or never made before. Those are all can thing right now that have huge concerts: Ayu, Yumming, Gack and Utada Hikaru (her last tour, anyway). But some 80s diva sometimes does grand concerts, I heard some Seiko Matsuda tours are quite impressives...

And I don't think Johnny's concert all that spectacular. I mean, for all the money they made (lots more than Ayu's), they could made something much bigger. But they are never mind-blowing or anything...

Anyway, it all depends. There are some acts everybody knows puts on great shows: Madonna, U2, The Rolling Stones... but the fans will always think nobody can make a tour as good as B'z/SMAP/KAT-TUN/Mr. Children/Namie Amuro/Ai Otsuka.

hahaha. I actually kind of agree with you. Because in my eyes, Ayu doesn't NEED the huge extravagent costumes and sets to make her tours good - artists like Britney, Madonna, XTina etc DO. But I've always felt that Ayu's best, most crowd grabbing performances have been when she is doing the more stripped down rock songs, not the ones that relied on some elaborate set design.

I must say I disagree. Growing up I was a huge huge huge Madonna fan (and still am, mostly a fan of her older work though.) I've got all the Madonna tours on dvd and several bootlegs and in terms of the whole package meaning everything from sets to costumes, to atmosphere, vocals, the songs themselves, stage presence and performance ability, I still would pick Ayu's tours over Madonna's. Maybe if we were only talking about the sets and costumes, Madonna might maybe win, but not as a whole package for me.

Erm yes. Ayu's concerts are basically just a mix & match of other bigger concerts & artists from around the world anyway.

It's not like every show by any mentioned artist is inspired by something or someone else. We've existed for several thousand years, we take inspiration from the past and the present, mixing it with our own ideas and presenting it a new way. It's not like it's some kind of rip-off.

^Of the people in this thread I know for sure that two persons have. Me and SunshineSlayer.

And people are actully quite calm and orderly during Ayus concerts, which I found quite boring. Nothing like some crazy American rock concert, hehe.

i would say NO
i dont know why but her charisma was SO spectacular...
japan artist usually held a concert...i have seen many of them Mr. Children, yaiko, aya ueto, namie amuro, etc...i would say that among of them that come close to ayu was MISIA and namie..
but i feel dissapointed with namie, because her tour concept was never changed...her hair style was the same in the past 3 years...her outfit..was EH?! Misia was really spectacular performer..but yeah AYU win it...
overseas artist...britney was nice, beyonce, usher, madonna, westlife...but i would say AYU still the best!!!
