Major symbolism in the video, this song should be promoted so much more for the album instead of JEWEL, even though both songs are awesome.
For some reason the love I think she sings about is not only about two people, but between family as well. In a way, I think the old man represents the father Ayu always wanted. |

^ I thought "father figure" as well for the old man. There are so many things you could say about momentum. I love it.

Wow, the PV made me love the song.
I got the impression that Ayumi died there and that she's a ghost that is lost. That man is related to her (father maybe) and he puts flowers on that spot every day. All those people are looking at the old man, no one sees Ayumi and that's why she's crying. |

Wow, what a freaking great PV. Certainly the best one directed by Takehide Ishii. It made me like the song a bit more, though I still think that the song is a bit too upbeat for the serious lyrics and PV.

After watching this video it is now one of my favorites. Even though I am into her more dark and moody vids this one made up for the stupid bling bling Jewel vid. Now I am a waiting for 1Love. She is also really gorgeous in this vid.

Also want to say, that this video reminded me of the song Powder Snow - man I wish that had a PV.
After reading the lyrics the first time, I thought the song was definitely about Tomoya. Now that I've seen the vid and gone over the lyrics again, I actually think this is another song to go into the 'mystery of Ayu's father song index.' Also once again in these lyrics she asks to be forgiven for something. hmmm. |

it's so symbolic and powerful i think this video should've been for Secret instead of momentum Secret sounds much more sad, but this video made me appreciate momentum much more than before can't wait to see 1 LOVE! ayu's really outdone herself this time |

Hmm, I'm surprised some of you have not gotten the symbolism of this PV. Oh well, I'll explain it here if you don't understand what's going on in the PV.
First, the candle scene should be the easiest to explain. There is a myth that there is a dark cellar-like place which houses candles. Every single living person in the world has his own unique candle, some versions of the myth says that the person's name will be carved onto the candle itself. The point is, as long as your candle is still alight, you will remain alive. You will die only when your candle has burnt completely or the flame is extinguished accidentally. The guardian of these candles is Death himself in some versions, while an old man in others (this may be one reason why it's an old man who lays flowers under the lamppost, but we'll get to that point soon). In a perhaps more well-known version, there are hourglasses instead of candles, and I'm sure many of you have heard of this version before. Next is ayu standing all alone under the lampost like a rejected hobo . The reason why she's crying may not be obvious at first, but read the lyrics and watch till the end and you will realize that she is most probably dead, and she misses someone who is alive, ALOT. The line "The days when I loved you were the last miracle to me" shows that she probably died for love. That will then explain why she seems to be singing at the top of her voice, but noone notices her presence. Yes, the people looked at the spot that she was standing at, but they do not see her (a spirit), they just look at the spot because it reminds them of her.Last thing. In the myth, the guardian of the candles has his own personal candle which never goes out (probably the yellow one in the PV). The guardian can choose to shorten a life by extinguishing a candle, or he can extend it by using his own flame to light up an extinguished one. My guess is that the blue ayu (as the guardian here) helped to light up the snow ayu's extinguished candle, which allows her spirit a brief visit to the living world. That's why she appeared in the PV, and just in time to see an old man lay out flowers for her. In the end, a gust of wind extinguished the candle, and snow ayu distintegrated just before the old man can see her.

Ok, one more sort of out there theory for a possible secret hidden on this album - if the guy in the vid is supposed to represent her father, well, he's white. Now there is a secret for ya.
![]() And thanks for explaining that Misa-chan - I'd actually never heard of that before. Last edited by SunshineSlayer; 28th November 2006 at 07:42 AM. |

whoah. Actually a meaningful PV.. So we have:
JEWEL - A beautiful PV momentum - A meaningful PV 1 LOVE - A rockin' PV This basically is the best album ever. There's a song for everyone! =) What more could we wish for? |

This PV is so depressing but so full of meaning. The ending was so sad... it truly left a mark on me. Wow.. I'm very impressed by this PV. The fire part, yeah so cool!! I was actually wondering if she was holding a flame before she reached the candle.. haha

Finally! Her first really good video in a damn long time! Listening to this song and watching the video gives me a really strong pang of nostalgia -- throws me back to the M and No way to say singles...
Good...at least it's something to compensate...gives the whole album a little more sparkle, IMO.

My thoughts? More interesting than JEWEL, but I still feel it lacks something... perhaps more of a buildup to the ending? Beautiful PV nonetheless.
Also.... subtitles. Download here!

Ahhh, when I went to bed I knew that this one would leak during the night, so happy it did
.The PV was really good, thanks Misa-chan for the explanation and SunshineSlayer for a lot of the speculation .When I saw it the first time it the first scene, with Ayu under the lamp post in a medieval environment, instantly reminded me about the story about the Match Girl, check out the story in it here if you don't know about it yet.
