I don't think any blame should be placed on avex.

[Will has been excluded from like, everything. I assume that Ayu chooses songlists and stuff..]

I don't really want to buy either because I have all of her CDs and don't want to pay $45 for songs I already have... the new song better be amazing.

Also, it's so tricky of them to not have the Countdown Live and new song in the same version! They'll do anything to make you buy both versions.

Either way, if I do buy them, there is no way I'm buying the Japan versions. It's just too much for songs I already have!

It's marketing,

. They better had something new in the WHITE version, or else I doubt anyone would've bothered to buy that version since all the songs have already appeared in previous albums.

Don't forget the new pictures, covers and bragging rights you get along with the music

edit: remember WHITE also comes with the CDL DVD version, which will be a lot HQ than the TV version. plus that's the same with all BEST albums. It's all old stuff, yet they still sell so well.

I don't think artists release best albums for fans necessarily, but for people who don't buy everything..

So that they can get a "taste" of everything.
And it's not really tricky.. I think that they wanted to do a single release, but it would've costed quite a lot [2CD+3DVD?]

The chief reason she uses so many tracks off MY STORY is that this album was her most successful album in in the 2004 year, which sold a million copies and it was quite rare to see such a success after the emergence of mp3~~~~ In order to celebrate and to bear in mind such a worthwhile moment, she uses so many MY STORY tracks^^~ (just take a guess)

and the Endless sorrow on the game version where ayu pops up on the last scene.

I agree with you, this is marketing. Avex uses the SELLING CONCEPT in the marketing philosophies as they focus on heavy promotion and selling effort. They seek for existing buyers and selling them their existing products in particular the benefits in order to gain profit via sales volume.

They knew this time they have to satisfy their EXISTING customers, by providing old songs they want to emphasize that AYU's songs are superb and nobody hate listening (benefits of existing products).~~ haah~

This is a so-called Inside-out perspectives~~~

hmmm, looking at the tracklist, I'll probably be buying White, because the songs are nicer (in my opinion) and the PVs are nice. And I wonder how they'
re including a PV for A Song is Born and Independent..

I'm happy : I have only 2 Ayumi's albums (because my credit card doesn't work on internet... soon change it !!!). MY STORY and Secret !

So I'm glad to know that I'll buy the A Best even if all my favorite track are not in them (forgiveness, rainbow, theme of a nation, alterna, b&d and pride missed)... Anyway I'll buy them without any regret but I understand why true/deep fans are a little disgusted : only 1 new song... coastly for them !

I hope that advertisement will be as big as the A best one : lot of CM !!!

for the white : all the PVs won't be in... I thought it was a selection according to the tracklist !

just a question : will the CDL be available in an only DvD or not?

im so glad that all my faves such as Because of You, About You, Walking Proud, Free & Easy, is this LOVE made it up there.

the only tracks not worthy i think are Greatful Days and A Song is Born..
overall im happy with the tracklisting..black definitely pawns white!

Though some people might be happy to have a different pv for it, I quite like the about you pv. the song just makes it 100x better. I love About you.

I also agree with you about Greatful days...I never really got into that song...

Something alot of people have to understand about BEST collections is this: They're not for fans. They're really not. They're for casual listeners, who like alot of ayu's stuff but not really enough that they MUST buy every album, they must get everything. Avex is being smart (and evil) by making the first press edition with the 2 dvds: it's the only way to make it marketable to the die-hard fans who must have everything. The intent behind Best collections is to gather up the songs that were most popular (as far as single sales, radio requests, karaoke, and general exposure), not the actual "best" songs. Not the ones that fans like the best. The intent behind making a best album is usually making all the popular stuff available in one place, not exposing casual fans to an artist's best work. It's not meant as a jumping-off point for new listeners who should hear the best examples of an artist's overall sound and artistic ability.

So yeah, that's why Greatful Days is on there and alterna isn't.
