It still annoys me how people complain about the Sparkle performance... Ayu fandom has no sense of humour at all.

Nobody is complaining? The members who comment right now on the Sparkle performance / the gif that's posted think it is funny.

@orbitalaspect, do you mean fairyland? Well, there was more thought put into that video than just the beach frolick don't you agree? I just hope she does not reduce to just the frolick.

She's never been a good dancer. There are some aspects of it that are REALLY hard to learn - her center of gravity is rarely where it should be, for instance, and even if you learn TO do certain things like lean on the ball of one foot then transfer your weight to the heel of your other foot, it's not going to come naturally most of the time. At this point she's had 12 years to figure it out and she hasn't yet - she's never gonna. She looks very VERY stiff, she knows the moves but she still hasn't internalized how to do them right. It's just not gonna happen.

When Ayu started dancing - not like the Trauma dance, but in the "Real me" PV - it got a good reception because honestly, in that video, it seems very smart-alecky, like she's NOT a dancing robot type pop star, she's a less rehearsed and more honest type. So I think we all kinda figured she'd stop eventually since she wasn't especially good at it, but then she just... kept... doing it. x_x

^There was a complaint on this thread, but I admit it's more of me complaining about the performance being bashed over the years.... I guess AT09 got to that point people love it... It was the most bashed of her tours since I started following her...

There's more artist that don't write their music than that do and that are able
to get alot of sales and have good music. Writing music doesn't make you a
singer. A good singer means dancing, acting and most importantly have
singing skills. Ayumi has good writing skills, acting and singing and thats
what makes her an amazing singer.

If you only chose singers who wrote music and lyrics, then you don't have
many to chose from.

Saying that an artist wouldn't have a career if they didn't have people writing for them is a really dumb opinion.

It's not a dump opinion. It's simply the truth. I like Namie, but she never had any singing skills, actually she can't sing at all and her dancing is shit compared to most other popstars who are famous for being great dancers. She's only popular because she has a great team which seems to know how to produce a product people want to buy. That's all.

I wouldn't even go as far as saying Namie is a good singer. As much as I like FEEL it wasn't sung particularly well. She sounded dead over hot beats. It worked for a hot minute until I realized that her voice lacked oomph. Heaven remains unbothered though.
I don't think Ayu's a particularly good singer as well but she does have nice emotion in her voice, something that FEEL lacked. But that Vibrato of Doom though. Hito wahahahahahahahahahaha yume wohhohohhoohhohohohoho. Kyou ga totemohohohohohohohohho. Etc.
If anything, Kumi is the one who's a good singer. She has a great range and an emotional voice.

Saying that, if Namie didn't have people writing for her and thus she wouldn't have a career is iffy, makes sense but there is a 'loophole'. She doesn't create music so if there was no music then there would be nothing for her to sing. Without her team of writers there would be nothing. Nothing. BUT with _genic she picked demos so in the end she doesn't have to have people write for her. People can write things and then she can choose them at her own free will without people like Nao'ymt.

Yeah, stage presence is more important than acting or dancing skills.

Very interesting discussion. I wonder why ayu doesn.t have the confidence to bring CREA back. For example, A ONE would have been a good oportunity to do this ^return to roots^ she was talking about in that magazine. Still, A ONE holds a special place in my heart.

Yeah, I loved the choreography for Rule.

When it comes to Ayu (and Hikki) I think it always looks good when they add a bit of...arm movements/choreography (not sure what to call it!) to their routines, like Whatever @ Premium Showcase Live or Passion @ Utada United.

It might be simple but it looks very effective!

^We need news to moving on !!

And I prefer an ayuma dancing funny than the dramatic ayuma suffering in the tours.
