Ayu Schedule #13 [2009-2013] - TV Appearances, Magazines, etc.

Nice medley, nice scenes, nice costumes for the 3 songs, Ayu's put in energetic display but really.. she was way off in her vocals and trying to push out her voice. I really do not know what's wrong with her singing. yeah, i agree that the medley was too rushed. She tried, but I am feeling the quiet response from the audience. is it getting more a norm for Ayu's performance on TV? Ayu tried, however it can't seem to hype up the mood for the opening, though i think those who cheer a bit are just the Ayu fans.

So, I've had a big problem with her current vocals for some time.. This definitely doesn't help it. If she has gotten techinacally better why does it sound like she's struglling then?
And why is she singing old songs? She had a great opportunity to promote her new album at Kouhaku but apparently she pulled SURREAL, evolution (and dearest) again. I'm tired of her singing those songs, because it seems that she can't sing them well anymore. Why not a song like Sweet Scar or Song 4 U?

Yeah her vocals are not good at all. But you can see how hard she is trying to give a good performance. She was smart to sing Dearest first. Can you imagine her singing evolution,surreal and then Dearest her voice wouldn't come out at all. Poor Ayu.

^Yea, I actually feel bad for her. She sounds great in some of her newer songs, but its obvious that she can't pull her old songs flawlessly anymore.

Her current vocals are much better then 4 or 5 years ago and way better then that baby talk she use to have... man.

Damn i don't think there is something wrong with me but i seriously find her current vocals way better than few years ago. And if you compare it to song4u and surreal from heyx3 this is so much better... After the warm-up in Dearest she did well. You know, i would be ashamed watching the performance of song 4 u with the company of my friends, but this hell I wouldn't!

I agree, after the shaky start she did really well. What time are you thinking of? I also agree if you're talking about 2008ish. Some of the Mirrorcle World performances (And I think she did this at Kôhaku, too) were bad vocal wise. This is much better.

Concerning the audience - every year it's the same story. The Kôhaku audience - unless you're Arashi/AKB48/super-popular - it's unlikely that those grannys go gaga over you.

The medley - I think there is always some kind of theme for Kôhaku, so maybe they asked Ayu to perform these songs. They are classics even a lot of non fans enjoy, so I think for the general public they enjoy these older hits the most. Ayu wasn't the only act who performs older songs/big hits of a decade gone by.

Tragic choice of songs =/ Dearest was so strained I just felt so bad for her...but then there was some hope at evolution...and things progressed downhill into SURREAL =/She should've changed the key...or something...even though that would still be not so great. She looked beautiful though and like she had fun.

Still got the showmanship though. Love what she does with the visuals. I just hope she doesn't someday go the way of those really ancient folk with their giant robot Kouhaku outfits.

Her visuals were pretty awesome, especially for Dearest, but she still sounds like she is struggling to sing. Not as bad as I was fearing, though, so I am glad for that much.

Her vocals are actually quite good in this Kouhaku performance... Compare it with Kouhaku JEWEL performance or even WMU at CDL.

It did feel too short though, 3 songs in less than 4 minutes. If only organisers gave her more air time, being the queen and all.

In response to audience being dead, the audience at NHK Hall is strictly invite only, pretty much only important people to NHK get invitations. So there aren't many hardcore fans of any artist there.

If you ever see tickets to Kouhaku being scalped, they cost around at least a few hundred dollars each.
