Did Ayumi get work done in 1999?

To be honest I find discussions like that somehow disrespectful. Everytime a successful woman who is also beautiful appears on the scene, people constantly try to discredit her by comparing photos to show that "she got work done". Just because they want to proof that the woman actually isn't beautiful and that the credits for everything she achieved don't belong to her.
But if a successful woman doesn't match the beauty ideal, people also bash her, just because she "isn't beautiful".
It doesn't matter if Ayu got something done or not, all that matters is who she is and what she achieved. If people like her or not is something they can decide for themselves, but if Ayu is beautiful or not or is now beautiful but wasn't before or what the fuck they think about her outer appearances shouldn't matter at all.

I don't think she has done any major surgery at all, if you see pictures of her when she was a child you can clearly say it is the EXACT same face. Of course she has retouched her teeth, and maybe some facial/skin treatments, but really, the power of makeup and a good lifestyle is amazing

Like everyone said the teeth thing is obvious. I'm not sure about anything else. She wears a lot of make-up and it's easy to think she had stuff done with the amount she wears sometimes. Sometimes her nose looks smaller than it did in the past, but then it looks the same as it did in the past when she's not wearing as much make-up. I've gotten fooled a few times into thinking she got surgery because of certain make-up tricks, lol.
I do think at one point she may have had lip injections and then realized how bad they looked and didn't get them again. I'm just glad she didn't do anything major and permanent to mess up her face. I can still tell she's the cute ayu she's always been.

Boobs also change a bit with hormones during the month and depending on where you keep weight, if you put weight on and then lose it, some may still stay on the boobs.

Anyway, I think she has just had a her teeth done. I remember people used to speculate about it years ago but she often had singles out every few months and definitely wouldn't have had proper recovery time for anything!

Whether it's disrespectful or not depends on the intentions of the one asking the question. And I didn't ask because I wanted to insult or 'discredit' Ayumi in any way. I'm genuinely curious because I have noticed a change in her face from 1999 compared to before and it was bugging me because I couldn't put my finger on exactly what was different.

And for the record, I thought Ayumi was beautiful in the A Song For XX era.

I think it's good for us to hear that beautiful people have had work done... Not to discredit the beautiful people (because let's face it, all the plastic surgery in the world won't give you charisma or talent), but because it helps us realize that our standards of beauty aren't based on nature or reality in most cases.

I know I'm interested in whether or not certain people have had work done, but only because 1) I'm interested in what little details will change how an entire picture looks, and human bodies & faces are no exception, and 2) I've had low self-esteem all my life and believe it or not, learning that someone has had work done makes me feel better about my natural beauty - I'm less likely to beat myself up about my looks when I internalize that beautiful celebrities aren't usually born that way.

Well, I don't have any problem with plastic surgery, I think she did something to her eyes and maybe some botox. Gosh, I need some money to do that in my 40's XD

It is, but it's a mark of youth & inexperience and such... If Ayu wanted to appear more confident & wise, getting them straightened was a good move. It's not so much a matter of attractiveness as it is a mark of where you are in life. Crooked teeth would make you "cute," but straight teeth would be more necessary to be more "elegant," or some other more grown-up type of beautiful.

I believe she has had many augmentations, but all very very minor. Teeth are pretty much a fact. Lip fillers, semi-fact. I also believe she has shaped her jawline, nose, and eyes.

I actually think her breasts are real (I didn't before). I really thought this after watching a video of her performing Feel the Love live....and well, there was too much motion for them to be fake, if you know what I mean. XD

As for the rest of her, she looks fairly natural to me, though there was a time when it looked like she had some botox done.

I wouldn't even consider veneers to be anything major. Heck if I had the money I would definitely be doing that myself lol Same goes for botox... Anyways, I wouldn't be surprised if she did get some work done. It's not a big deal. I'm one of those people who's for plastic surgery though XD Lord knows I would if I was filthy rich

I don't know a single woman my age or older who isn't totally into the idea of at least getting botox done lol... I wouldn't do it just because of how it's given SO many women Resting Bitch Face because their eyebrows stay down in the middle even when they're smiling o_O

Mostly I would just do liposuction and/or a facelift to get my neck/jawline looking a bit more defined, tbh. I have to do the "myspace" selfie angle even when my weight is down, just cuz that little bit of fat under my chin likes to be like OH HI THERE in photos, and my cheek & the back part of my neck kinda blend into one entity which i do not like.
