Are you wake up? is a mistranslation/interpretation, Ayu has that on some songs like TO BE, which is a mistraslation/interpreation of "iroyo" supposed to be "was there" makes sense with the chorus of the song.

^"iro yo" or "iru yo"?
I've heard evolution cited as a mistranslation of "era" at least twice on AHS. |

^Yep, same goes here..
I find them quite funny and cute :p And they bring that some sort personality to those songs

But when an artist starts abusing the occasional 'cuteness' of Engrish, it starts getting annoying~

Yep I guess that's true, but in this case IMO Ayu hasnt over used them

i think ayu was about to name that song "Get Your Hands Up" (we can hear voices saying "Get Your Hands Up" in the song several times right?), and maybe she was meant to be funny, so she started to find another title that sounds like "Get Your Hands Up", and thanks to her bad english, she came up with the title "Are You Wake Up?", i think it fits, but then again, it's just what i think...
and i think ayu's interpretation of STEP you, is "follow me", it's like... i want you to STEP (to follow my move), because i read several discussions in AHS about the slip of chinese-translation lyrics in the STEP you/is this LOVE? single, it translates the title "STEP you" as "To Follow" |
