Sad to hear that. I love Ayu's trance albums but I think the sales of her last set of remix albums were relatively low. If there's a general feeling that it's not going to be that profitable, chances are they won't seriously consider a new remix release. I'd be thrilled if it happened but I'm not really expecting it.

Not every song remixes perfectly too, so that might be why they stopped. Some songs translate to dance perfectly and others don't.

I would love another remix CD. I'm also kinda sad that there isn't any remixes or rerecordings on A BEST 2. I think most remixes for singles are done in-house by Avex.

It's just that stamping Ayu's name on a product won't gaurantee a major hit anymore like it used to. It seems Kumi's name holds more value now as she is the promoter for many products in Japan. At least they could put out a Kumi remix album (and not that piece of crap they put out as digital a while back).

In relation to Halla's post,

Wasn't it confirmed that the sales for later Ayumi remix albums landed on around 10,000 copies? While that's still a lot more than 3,500 it's still quite low, such a low amount so that doing any kind of promotion for it would barely be worth it I think.

I love her trance remixes
It would be cool to hear some new remixes for some songs on Secret besides BLUE BIRD

I've mostly seen the RMX works albums being reported to sell around 50-70 000 per album , the Ayu-mi-X one selling the worst & the Eurobeat one selling the best. they're not horrible sales, Avex has plenty of artists who don't sell even those amounts with their original albums.
and from business POV , it would make sense to release more ayu remix albums. certainly they're more profitable than original albums from many Avex artists , there's no need for PV's & singles.

I personally think the reason why there's no more remix albums is that Ayu has gained more control over her career & refuses to release them. I don't think she likes her remix albums, I don't think she's ever commented on her remix albums which I find really weird.

Ayumi being against the release of remixes would also explain why they totally disappeared from her singles. Although a more likely explanation for that is probably that it just takes less time producing a single without remix tracks, and is also cheaper.

I don't think time is an issue , since they managed to cram the maxi-singles full of remixes even with the hectic release schedule of the past I'm sure a few remixes isn't a big deal. I don't think money is that big of an issue either, if it were then why do some less popular artists have remixes? I don't think Ayu would be the first artist on avex they'd cut production expenses from , her single sales are in several hundred thousands still.

I think she just doesn't like her music remixed. only recent singles that have proper remixes have been the summer singles like Fairyland & Blue Bird , probably to offer more content like the past summer singles like & and H. 'Bold & Delicious' single had some remixes too , but I think it could be because the drastic change of the music style of that single her management wanted to ensure sales by adding more content?

You are making very good points, and I agree with you. I believe the strongest argument is that other artists does have the remixes, while Ayu does not.

It is still very hard for us to know, and it's hard for me to believe that Ayumi simply would not like her remixes and that is why they aren't appearing. I don't know what to call it, far fetched? No, that sounds too negative... I don't know.

I think I just get the feeling it's something else. Especially since it isn't Ayumi making her own compositions or arrangements, a remix is simply a track which she didn't pick as the final "original" version.

I just get this feeling that she doesn't like them herself because she's never commented on them. it's really weird , her remix album series has sold millions & they're hit , they always debut at at least the top 20. her remix albums have set records in japan for that genre & her ayu trance albums are world famous beoynd the jpop fans. so you'd think she had even said something about them in an interview or something.

I've literally wondered about this for years , lol

That's an old thread, I feel like a youngster .

That ayu-mi-x comment is quite interesting. I'm quite sure that if she'd ever speak up about her remix albums she'd be talking positively about them, I doubt her contract would allow anything else than her doing so for her releases.

I doubt avex would be happy about having her bash her own releases, heh.

Her RMX albums might be record breaking & huge, but they're still almost nothing compared to the sales of her original albums and singles. It might just be that there was never any TV show or magazine interview where her remix albums was brought up, so she never had the chance to comment about it?

In her album introductions she always says something like "we did our best and this is the best music I ever did", maybe there never was an album introduction like that for her remix albums, where she was asked to comment?

It might just be circumstances that has never required her to. I'm so new in the Ayu world so I can't confirm anything of this myself, I might be entirely wrong.

Well since she doesn't have to do anything for remix albums I could see why she doesn't have much to say on them. The songs are placed in the hands of the producers and it's not like she is singing new or different vocals.

Ayu had the best trance -_- even the Ska versions were catchy. Maybe they're waiting for more albums to be made, so they can do a big release like another Non Stop MegaMix.

ayu once said it wasnt her idea to release the remix albums, and she haven't heard most of the remixes. so yes, the decision was made by avex.

and i really want more trance albums!

I don't think ayumi doesn't want them. Many other avex artists alo stopped getting tons of remixes at the same time ayu did. I think what changed is that she doesn't get them automatically (avex stuffing remixes onto albums) ahe'll probably have to get them / want them herself. Ayu's always worried about the quality of her content and consistency, so perhaps she'd rather have remixes she'd heard and that she'd like herself.

Also her taste in music has definetly chaged.

In addition, like the oricon ninki showed, she's more popular with older people, I don't think a lot of people over 30 would be very interested in trance remixes (sadly), even though some grown up ravers may be getting older. In the beginning of her career she was more popular among teens (especially girls, gyaru /gals which obiously likes a lot of that type of music), which would be more prone to liking cyber trance. So less of her fans would enjoy trance/eurobeat now and that's why there's no point in trleasing it. I do not think it was a coincidence that her latest remix album was "Classical", even though her classical albums sold less than trance. Her fans are getting older, teens find new idols. Quickly. SO it's a good thing she manage to switch fanbase.
