Exclamation Why did Ayu Abandon her Trance fans?

How come Ayu stopped reeasing remixes to all her songs. I remember when a single used to have like 2 songs and then liek 2-3 remixes of them. And also whatever happened to her AyuMix series and Ayutrance and so on? Its kinda dissapointing since those were probaby the only things worth picking up. Its like she just told all her trance/techno fans to get lost. Cause maybe it wasn't "cool" anymore.

Anyways what do you think, did she leave the fans out in the dust?

It was avex. The remixes albums and huge singles were probably not profitable anymore, so they had to crop'em all. Plus, nowadays avex only pays the cheapest trance remixers you could ever find and the result is a mix of Eurobeat with cheesy techno, trance wannabe that sounds so cheesy and generic you won't even bother.

they dont give her complete control? Thats kinda lame, you woulda thought that being their cash cow, theyd give her soem freedom. Still, you dont even see people remix her songs, like you could still sometimes catch a song remixed by someone and not be on a single. They dont do that anymore? o_O

They still have the occasional single-remix-of-older-song..

But that's it in terms of remixes.. :<

How can you all say that it was Avex's fault? Don't you think that maybe Ayu said she didn't want anymore trance albums? Seeing as though cyber trance hasn't presented any artists trance albums in a while could also be another factor.

its obviously avex's decision to stop the remix thingy. for me, i like the remixes album but perhaps they come in so many different variety that nobody buys the album. so it ended up not profitable and thats why avex didnt wanna continue remixing ayu's songs..

I follow several avex artists and those artists also used to have remixes, but then at a certain period avex started cutting them out. -Link- ayu might have a voice in avex, but seeing how ridiculous the sales of the last ayu-mi-xes albums were I don't think she can really have a point if she were ever ask for more.
And ~X2RADialbomber~ has a point. Maybe ayu never cared for the remixes, so avex taking them out or not doesn't really matter for her.

It might not just be avex, but Ayumi going a bit on her lazy side. Maybe she decides to spend more time with her beloved and let avex have their cheapest possible way, instead of grabbing it in her own hands an making sure that what's released if more of quality stuff.

Although the more likely option, like mentioned, is that avex just thinks that it wont be profitable enough.

I don't really think ayu has any work producing her remixes. I don't even think she's the one approving them. I mean, i don't think she'd have approved a crap like evolution Oriental HOY SPA, but w/e. The remixes have always been much of an avex doing since ELT got remixes albums and dream had singles loaded with remixes just like ayu. Nowadays avex artists rarely get any remixes or remixes albums. It is totally different from what used to happen in the pre Free & Easy era.

I think they should've kept the whole 10-tracks thing..

Free&Easy onward could've sold a lot more..

Yeah, I don't think she was very involved either, but she might have been the vouching for the singles to have such crazy amounts of tracks, and so. Although maybe that was just standard back then?

She might've dropped a lot of the "I want it this or that way" attitude and just let avex do whatever they want and then pay her.

I don't think so, because the price also dropped. With [+ remixes] singles costing more expensive and their sales dropping and dropping, selling a larger number of singles wouldn't exactly mean avex would earn more profits since the production of the single would also be much more expensive.

Yeah it was standard. if you visit dream (the 3 formation group) website and look at their discography you'll notice they had +remixes singles and later avex cut them off. H/\L singles (with HALNA) also suffered something simillar.

True true, although they would most likely still profit from the singles the profit wouldn't be as huge, heh.

And for some reason Avex ended up releasing a remix album for Ami Suzuki with many great remixers such as ferry Corsten doing the mixes.
