i was the second Ayu fan who made an account there, just to say a piece of my mind. they bashed Ayu quite a lot and fiercly there, i just had to post.

first of all, Ayu debuted in 1998 with her hit single Poker face, but that doesn't mean too much since there are a lot of same named songs out there.

i won't get into too much general stuff, i think this picture says it all, simple and clean.

now about Ayumi Hamasaki's Sexy Little Things and Microphone PV's, where you all claim Ayu's trying hard to copy Gaga.

those 2 PV's are parodies, she's mocking Gaga (mostly), she's also mocking Gwen Steffani and Rihana.
Japan, and Ayu are well known for the 'unusual' and 'avangarde'. just take a look at Ayu's earlier PV's like Alterna, Ladies Night, a lot of her live tour performances etc.

Gaga wouldn't even be known if she didn't have all that unusual crap on her. same goes for Gwen, she had her huge single peak while trying to copy Japan's style and harajuku girls, while all Rihanna's hits are covers and/or songs with samples from other well known songs (music wise).

it's sad how they all try to copy Japan and act original. and that's why Ayu's making fun of all of them, it's sad to see what kind of stuff those artists need to sell well, how times have changed... and that's the pure truth.

this isn't the first time Ayu's made fun of American artists. watch her PV Startin'. it makes fun of Britney Spears and Xtina and american film industry. the original Kill Bill is a japanese movie and quite a few of huge horror movie hits.
Americans need Japan more then they wanna admit.

Ayu's a true artist, with style, she's been here for 12 years, while Gaga will fade away as soon as she takes off her idiotic costumes and masks.

Clearly, Ayu lacks the clout Gaga has. Lady Gaga has five hit singles to her name, all of them of an electronic pop persuasion reminiscent of older British pop hits, and Gwen Stefani during her Hollaback Girl phase. Her lyrics mostly dwell on romantic (or actually more carnal) encounters, and is a theme highlighted by her music videos - often showing her in various stages of undress, and compromising positions.

Sound-wise, Ayu is a little more diverse and this could be because she already has 10 studio albums under her belt, whereas Gaga only has 1. Like Gaga, she has also done electronic pop but has since explored other genres such as ballads and pop rock. Her fashion is constantly changing as well, but it is only recently that Ayumi started to bare more skin. What she has always been comfortable baring are her feelings.

Unlike Lady Gaga whose critics often gloss over her lyrics, Ayumi is known for penning words that are personal and touching. Ayumi’s albums play as a sort of musical blog. They may appear shallow and light (as showcased in videos filled with color, explosions, and S&M clad back-up dancers) but her music is almost always burdened with emotion.
She’s got a leg up too on fashion transformations and, again, it may be due to her career starting much earlier than Gaga’s. She has done Earth Mother covered in leaves, she has done S&M in tight black leather, and she has also done a very Gaga-esque red pleather catsuit complete with the slicked-back super straight hair. Gaga’s sensibilities may be wilder but not as diverse. Gaga is mostly known for her tangas while Ayumi cannot be pinned to an outfit.



At the end of this fight, it is clear that Lady Gaga will leave this arena bloody and bruised, for even in the round of aesthetics, Ayu takes the lead. The J-pop star has numerous product endorsements to her name, including a lingerie endorsement for Wacoal. She is revered by many for her looks as well as her talent. Gaga, on the other hand, although attractive herself, is viewed too much as a caricature to be touted a beauty. Even when naked in photo shoots and music videos, rarely is lust inspired among her audience.

With no more ammo in her arsenal, Lady Gaga falls to the floor. Ayumi Hamasaki wins, and is clearly the real Poker Face who deserves Madonna’s crown. Now, if only she could get the crowd to stop fawning over her fallen, more famous foe, and take notice of her victory instead.

OK this may not be important but I'll say what's on my mind anyway.

In My Opinion, some Ayu fans keep saying that they don't bash GaGa but actually they're doing it. And we cannot stop GaGa fans from bashing Ayu. That's the downs of fandom. Fans fight for their idols and that's inevitable. I, myself, get mad when someone despises ayu, telling she copied Whoever, etc., but it just makes me defensive about it so I just let it off.

How can I know how much effot do they put on a song? How can we measure effort?

For those of you who went on the Lady Gaga forum posting the facts about Ayu, I'm happy that you let them know what the truth really is. But to be honest, I wouldn't waste my breath on there, especially with people who are so blinded by their favorite artists that they can't see anything outside that person. Those types of people are pointless to try to reason with and it will be like talking to a brick wall. And sometimes when you get caught up in trying to defend your favorite artist against someone else's favorite artist, you sometimes sink down to their level without even knowing it. We all care for Ayu and none of us like to see anyone bash her but who cares what these people think? Going back and forth about whose better will get you no where, especially with ignorant people. I can tell you right now, a diehard fan who acts like an artist or celebrity is God (I'm not saying all diehard fans are like this but there are many like this) will never back down. So don't waste your time and just continue to support who you like whether it's Ayu, Gaga, or both. And this goes for Ayu fans, Gaga fans, and any other artists fans.
