Evanescence Looses Ben Moody

'Evanescence co-founder and guitarist Ben Moody unexpectedly dropped off the band's current European tour. Following an October 21st date in Stockholm, Moody did not join the group for a string of four dates in Germany.
A spokesperson for the goth rock band's label, Wind-Up, would only confirm that "Ben is not currently on the tour," but would not elaborate on why the guitarist is not performing with the band he co-founded with twenty-year-old singer Amy Lee in Little Rock, Arkansas when the pair were in their early teens.

Evanescence is still performing as a quintet, but the spokesperson declined to name Moody's temporary replacement and said he could not comment on whether Moody will rejoin the band when they kick off an upcoming slate of U.S. dates on November 21st with a gig at Rillito Park in Tucson, Arizona. That tour is scheduled to run into mid-December, with the band playing Australia and Japan in January.

England's Rock Sound magazine reported that Moody flew home without speaking to his band mates on a day off during the German dates. Lee told the magazine, "You don't do that to your band. You wouldn't do that to your friends or your family. You don't do that to anyone."

Evanescence has been on a non-stop blitz of U.S. and European tour dates since its multi-platinum major-label debut, Fallen, was released in March. The group was forced to cancel a number of shows in Germany in June when Moody fell ill during a gig in Spain, reportedly suffering from dehydration. The current European dates, which continue this week with a string of performances in England, are the first the band has ever played without Moody'

When paper_doll told me this, I was pretty upset considering both of them have known each other for so long, I hope everything works out

Good now maybe they'll get a real guitarist. They would be a good band but Ben Moody bores me to death with his play-four-notes-rest-for-two-beats-play-same-four-notes-again-repeat style of guitar playing. It would be alright every once in a while except for the fact that it's a technique that has been done to death. Not to mention the fact that he uses that approach to every song on Fallen.

I think evanescence is good! They kinda got boring because they were always playing their 'bring me to life' video but their other songs are good! I don't really know much about the guitarist but i hope they find a replacement soon!

Ben wasnt the best guitar player, but he was one of the members. I mean Amy is the besat part of the group, but without Ben, its just Amy, and band.

>=D!!!!! Why isn't there more technical guitar playing these days in the US anyways? I guess it has to do with the style of music? blah.. and there's barely any guitar solos anymore.. the only song I really like from Evanescence is "Haunted". Other than that, they remind me too much of Linkin Park =\

At least Ayu and Rina Aiuchi have pretty good guitar solos in their songs <3

There is, you just have to know where to look. Dream Theater and Symphony X are two bands with highly skilled guitarists. But I've said it before and I'll say it again, Evanescence is nothing more than a watered-down version of Lacuna Coil. I am not saying Amy Lee doesn't have a great voice, she does. She just needs to work with some more technically inclined musicians.

Ahh.. that's true.. but those bands aren't really mainstream, are they? =/ It'd be nice if metal was mainstream again in the US. It certainly seems to be popular in Europe... especially Germany hehe

Also, I've never heard of Lacuna Coil x.x Evanescence reminds me of Nightwish ^.^*
