ayu's darker songs

I've been obsessed with so many of Ayu's darker-sounding songs lately. The mid-tempo rock tracks, depressing ballads. Is she channeling the emo inside all of us?

OMG I have listed to the live version of is the LOVE? from CDL 10-11 at least 200 times just for the yo-chan solo in the beginning. I love all of Ayu's rock songs, but this one is my absolute fav. I also cry to A Song for XX every time I hear it.

Ayu have a lot of dark songs... though the melody is light and upbeat, the lyric might be dark... so it's hard to determine which one is dark and not @.@

Yeah the lyrics do vary, thats why I said darker sounding songs.

I like Ayu's rock songs more than the 'dark' ones per se, but is this LOVE from CDL 10-11 is AMAZING! So fun! I love the stuff like Rule, Mirrorcle World, Decision, talkin' 2 myself, 1 Love, etc. I hope to see more of those. I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE Do It Again though, amazing. We need more like that.

Ayu's darker songs have and will always be my favourite songs from her. Whenever I read the lyrics to her darker songs, I feel like she is talking to me or about me.

The only Ayu songs I consider really dark sounding are Guilty and Brillante (and the Ayu-mi-x IV acoustic orchestra version of Never Ever)

GUILTY actually has the ability to make me feel depressed sometimes. It's sounds so ourie, sooty, and somber. For the lyrics, I've seen two slightly different translations, but both have a crestfallen, drooping feel to them; the small voice in the background during the chorus and at the end add to this, too. I think she's indeed trying to channel the emo in me on this one.

Speaking of how GUILTY sounds, a user on Last.fm named Bassboomer put it pretty well: "GUILTY is hard to describe. It is a marvellous track, but at the same time it is melodically unpleasant. I would classify it as 'unlistenably gorgeous.'"

I think Because of You would constitute as a darker song as well Though Memorial address is one of my favorite songs by Ayu, period. In general I prefer her darker songs, though, so most of the ones already mentioned on this thread count among my faves.
