Ayu's "sudden boom" songs

Anyone misses those?

I mean, songs like Free & Easy, that start all mellow and calm with the hums and delicate singing to suddenly scare you with a blast of a powerful song? M, evolution, NEVER EVER, she has quite a couple of those. I can't remember if any of her most recent songs follow that structure sometimes. They are the kind of songs I feel embarrassed to play in front of friends because I have the feeling it will scare them with the boom parts, but they make me so nostalgic because they really make me think: wow, this is kind of an ayu signature, the ayu I grew listening to, that would make me have thrills and goosebumps with a song originally made to feel soothing but that sudeenly distracts you with BOOM, I'm a power song!!! LOL

I think this sums up progress so well.

return road is probably her latest track in the category.

I'm okay with the vocals, it's just The Vibrato of Doom (TM) that gets me.
The only song that EVER gave me that BANG BOOM feeling was Free & Easy.

Free & Easy is on the top of this category, I agree.

Progress is so typical Ayu it hurts. It has everything, the change in style, the whole what genre am I thing, a ballad bit... and an upbeat bit.

I think the only thing missing is the "unfinished" sound, which for me is the magic in her old music.

as others said: progress. I think BRILLANTE and Return Road(quiet strings, BAM organ gets in, quiet melody, BAM chorus) could count as well.

Funny that's how I group my ayu songs for my iPhone heh...I tend to group them together that sounds similar or should be together... there's quite a few

It Was > Return Road > Free & Easy > momentum > M > Marionette > Do It Again > progress >

then...these in another lol

Rule > evolution > until that Day > Mirrorcle World etc

Connected > Spark > Naturally > Blue Bird > fairyland > glitter

edit: oh yea to answer your question..I miss those a lot
you should see my play counts for the older "boom" songs lol
the arrangement/format never gets old for me

BRILLANTE for sure!!

I love this kind of songs but in the last years she has just released a few of them, I think that's why the new songs bore me so quickly

Yes the boom thingy is truly Ayu. I love that.

One thing I miss is her way to construct songs back in the days. Like M that goes: intro, verse, verse, bridge, verse, bridge, chours, chours, chours instead of the regular verse, bridge, chours, verse, bridge, chours, middle eight, chours, chours that all pop songs pretty much have.

Free & Easy does it good too with: verse, bridge, verse, bridge, chours, bridge, chours, some strange chours/middle eight, verse.

Pretty much every single Ayu song that she messed up the "regular song pattern" with I looove dearly. M, SURREAL, Free & Easy, HEAVEN to mention a few. When she does this I never get bored. Because the song suprices me and don't give me what I'm used to (when it comes to pop songs). Segments of the song comes in from nowhere. These songs are the songs I remember the most and I truly never ever get bored with these ones.

AHS married to Maro
~13/1-2010~

Spoiler:
We had such a nice time. We started dating in t2m PV, took it slow you know, let our love grow. Then it got really serious in 2008. Then after AT2009 we moved in together. It was lovely. Then on AT2010 he asked me to marry him. He was such a sweet. And Ayu gave us our blessings. She was also such a sweet. Now me and Maro are such a sweets together. Aaaw, how time flies.

the boom-est song ever for me was Free & Easy. it had a half a beat of complete silence before picking up to the boom paragraph before chorus. it shook me =x

boomz in songs like progress and Mirrorcle World were sorta predictable for me =x
