Biography

They both joined on May 5, 1991 and met at a Hikaru Genji's concert on the same day. Although they share the same last name, they are not blood related.

In 1992 they started appearing together in magazines. Until this time they didn't have a formal name as a unit. Then on December 31, 1992 they backdanced for SMAP at NHK as "Kanzai Boya". Nakai Masahiro apparently did not approve of this, so when kinki appeared on the first broadcast of KISS shita? SMAP on April 4, 1993 he renamed them KinKi Kids. Using all uppercase Ks became standard in 1994.

Every single released since their debut had been number one, giving them a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

KinKi Kids to release 16th album, 'O album'

KinKi Kids will release their 16th original album "O album" on December 23.

The album has the theme "Over" and the message "to go beyond my present self and the era to move forward to a new stage." It will consist of a total of 13 songs including their singles "The Red Light," "Topaz Love," "Aitai, Aitai, Aenai." "Hikari no Kehai," and "KANZAI BOYA."

In addition to Dojima Kohei, who also helped to produce their previous album "N album," the upcoming album will feature participation by Hosono Haruomi, Matsumoto Takashi, Oda Tetsuro, Matsuko Tatsuro, and Takeuchi Anna.

The Limited Edition will come with a DVD containing the music video for "Suisei no Gotoku." Meanwhile, the Regular Edition will come with two bonus tracks.

The details on KinKi Kids' 16th original album "O album" (December 23 release) have been revealed.

The album's Limited Editions will feature 13 songs including the duo's singles "The Red Light," "Topaz Love," "Aitai, Aitai, Aenai." "Hikari no Kehai," and "KANZAI BOYA."

In addition to the 13 tracks, the Regular Edition will come with two more songs "100-nengo no Sora ni wa Nani ga Mierundarou" and "STARS."
