Ayumi hamasaki's new single "Carols" has already reached the summit on the first week of its release. The song's soothing melody is inundated with the passion of winter. even though ayu's recent ballads are on a downward spiral, this song has won the word of mouth of the public. This is probably due to the fact the message of the song matches perfectly with the music video.

In the music video of "Carols", there is a touching scene of ayu on a horse of a merry go round. it lasted for only just a bit over 10 seconds, but the process of shooting this scene was complicated by the arrival of a storm, causing the crew to spend from morning to dusk to finish this scene. This merry go round scene took one whole day.

Ayu's attitude towards work has always been serious. However, there are reports saying that her personality is sometimes hard to take. According to the current issue of the japanese magazine "weekly female (?)", ayu is a member of a large gym in tokyo. however, the gym's staff and regular customers never saw ayu. according to sources, ayu goes to the gym only by appointment, and she always chooses the timeslots that are past midnight, when the gym is already closed. she would pay the gym so that she is the only customer there. this extravagant gesture is not only due to the fact that she lives a life of a reversed day-night cycle, but also due to the fact that she wanted to escape the eyes of the onlookers. the staff of the gym confessed that only ayu get this very special treatment.

That's actually quite interesting, and their write-up of Carols is quite positive.

It's common knowledge that Ayumi can be hard to work with, and that she's a little eccentric. I expect most of us would turn that way if we lead such a life.

That's the first mention of Ayumi being a nocturnal animal that I've heard though; despite the source I've no reason to disbelieve it. The gym-to-herself story also makes sense: after all some paparazzi would love to get a picture of a Ayumi looking awful after a hard workout at the Gym, and fans would mob the place if they know she was there.

Every time I see something like this posted, I can't help but think of the PV for Dearest. Poor Ayu. I feel bad that the media is so infatuated with her. What she does is her business - not anyone else's.

Thanks for posting this. I like the positive part about Carols... I don't see anything wrong with going for a workout after hours when you're least likely to be disturbed. They're just comparing that to how normal people behave, but famous people can't do some things the same way.
