Ayu in Oriental Daily 7/2/05

http://www.angelfire.com/ri2/extepan/images/ayu050207.jpg

copy and paste the link to your browser, clicking it doesnt work1

remember, the correct attitude to read the following article is to read, laugh and forget.

Title:
Wearing the same clothes as Christina & Madonna
Hamasaki Ayumi's concert outfits are suspected to be a series of copies

text: after the release of her latest album 'my story', ayu was accused by people on the net to have copied the calendar of christina aguilera. recently, she is being accused again of copying Christina and madonna's outfits in her latest arena tour which has just started.

Ayu wore 9 different costumes in her "ayumi hamasaki arena tour 2005 A my story' in osaka HALL on 1/2/05. after the beginning of the show, she wore a sparkling silver dress which resembles the outfit wore by christina aguilera when she attended the 'MTV music video awards' last year. Another ayu's silver white dress resembles the dress which madonna wore when she posed for a Versace ad in 1995.

after that, ayu changed to a sharp pink mini skirt, but the suspcion that she copied someone else cannot be shaken off. the strap design of her dress in the abdominal region is highly similar to the design of the dress that madonna wore in her tour in 1990.

though ayu's costumes looked familiar, she performed extra hard for this concert which lasted for over 2 hours. she sang over 10 songs from her new album 'my story', and encored 4 times. to the fans, the concert is valued for money.

Lol, haha, people get that all the time. Who's copying who, who's following who ... well, I think at least Ayu did incorporate some of her own original ideas so I think that's ok. Haha, in fact, she might even be trying to advocate Madonna and Christina's fashion sense back in the groove! From what it seems, I think we really put up a very good performance and I think that's what's enough to suffice already.

Hehe, she could put up a concert and end up wearing clothes like what Utada Hikaru wore for her Budokan Concert (oh gosh ... I though she really needed an image revamp on that concert but I still think it kicked ass because of her stage performance! Which is again, I think another key area that Ayu has demonstrated greatly, putting 200% of herself into each performance!)

hmm? copying and pasting the link to my browser doesn't seem to work either. *can't see the pic but anyway I do get what article is saying. I wonder what ayu will comment about this? The pics of ayu in arena 2005 were so beautiful, if it were copycated, damn, it's real high quality work~

The link is not working either for me.. however guess we need inspiration from somewhere? It's not like she took the exactly same brand of clothes proly she was simply inspired from them.

So so so true. As soon as it's going out- something makes it come back in. So if Ayu copied something from Madonna from back in the 90s, it seems good enough to bring it back in.

Thanks again extepan. Impressive, 9 outfits for 14 songs.

It's about time someone says Ayu was copying someone else, although mentioning a Madonna outfit from 15 years ago isn't very convincing
The price she pays for wearing so many different outfits. I wonder if she's ever worn the same item more than half a day. Saves on the laundry bills I guess.

Thanks for the article.

Copy, copy, copy... Ayu hasn't gotten much credit in the past few weeks has she? As long as it's not a blatant copy, it doesn't matter. Like someone said, everything in fashion is technically a "copy" of something else. When someone created the first pair of pants, anything that resembled it would be "OMG! Copycat!!". But now they've become the norm, just as I suspect many of Madonna's fashions will be if people like Ayu continue to draw inspiration from them or wear similar things.

I don't think it's Ayu's fault for being "unoriginal," but the fault of the fashion designers since they copy each other all the time. Plus, how is Ayu supposed to know what Christina Aguilera wore to the MTV VMAs last year? I doubt Ayu even watches the MTV VMAs.

The Chinese newspaper writers need to find something more interesting to write about, because talking crap about Ayu is nothing but ****.

I'm sad that they're bashing Ayu again, but it is a bit funny that they're going back 15 years for examples. Although if they chose more recent costumes people might be "I remember that Madonna dress, it's not like what Ayu's wearing at all! What is Oriental Daily thinking?!" With old examples, there may be less chance of readers realizing what trash this is.

yea they do like strikingly similair but as said earliar fashion is inspirational and well ayu said she's always been...inspired...by madonna. The christina dress looks nearly identical, but who knows if she even knows that.

haha, wow, those people are getting desperate. i do believe ayu sometimes draws "inspiration" from others, but this seems ridiculous. everyone in a sense is copying fashion from someone else, i mean, if i see something i like on someone i might go buy it, so i am copying that person. besides, there's only so many options that can go around and its funny how far back that madonna example was from. and even if she does look at their outfits and use those ideas, big deal, who says she can't dress like them if she wanted.

I do admit that the silver costume looks EXACTLY like it. But like everyone has mentioned, fashion is basically copy all over. =/ I don't think the media should make a big deal over this. At least I hope the ayu fans that read it don't make a big deal of it. v-v;

That article is just......stupid. So anyone that wears a 20s style flapper dress is copying Christina Aguilera? Please. US bronze medalist figure skater Jenny Kirk wears almost the exact same kind of silvery flapper dress in her performances(and way before Christina wore that dress.). Maybe Ayu copied her.lol

And an outfit that has a corset as part of it means that she is copying something Madonna wore 15 years ago? Even though aside from the corset they look nothing a like? They really are desperate to find something to write about.
