[2002] Who's your favorite Western pop singer?

Okay, I'm not talking about just your favorite American artist, but who is your favorite American POP singer? I'm sure we'll have a nice debate over whether or not Britney Spears actually has any talent or not, so I'm not voting for her. I really like Kylie Minogue. She's not slutty and her songs are fun.

Technically Kyle isn't American pop. She's from Australia. :p hehe, but I guess she counts.

My favorite American group would be Blink 182. They're not really pop, but they're still really good.

One of the reasons I listen to Japanese Pop music is because American Pop isn't worth it. So I don't have one.

I don't really like any American pop singers but there are several bands in the pop category that I like: Third Eye Blind, Tonic, Green Day, Matchbox Twenty, Creed, Nickelback, etc. I guess the closest thing to an American pop singer I will listen to is John Mellencamp.

uhhh is trance kind of like pop? all happy and bouncy and fast? right? welll....I like all kinds of artists...anything thats just in my interests...Ill get down to anything really...I dont mind at all...if I like christina aguilera's songs, then so be it..I dont care what people think, they can kiss my bootie! hehe...

I also like any rock songs...I dont have a favorite "band or singer" but I have favorite "songs" by a variety of artists...yet, I dont know, BoA (who is definitely not american) strikes my interest as fav. singer at the moment...maybe jaci valesquez, shes cool...hmmm...it's really hard to say "what I like"...Im not very picky!!

Since most trance is made in Europe, and I hardly listen to the radio, I'm gonna say no one....Too many people like Christina, Lil BowWow (and all those other Lil people...lol), and just about all modern day US pop starts just annoy me. Some I can tolerate and perhaps like, but I don't have a favorite...

favorite american pop singer? how about none. these pop idiots and carbon copy college rock bands (like sum 41 and blink 142...sorry Grant, haha) have no talent whatsoever. but that's just me.

<-- punk fan. hates it when people refer to Blink and Sum as pop
at least call them pop-punk, dang it. >.<
Blink, no talent? what the fudge are you smokin, dude? if i could play the bass half as well as Mark Hoppus or the guitar half as well as Tom DeLongue or even the drums a quarter as well as Travis Barker can, i'd be a happy man.
and have you heard Sum 41's new stuff? it rocks and is completely different from All Killer No Filler. bah.
no, i don't only listen to pop-punk. i listen to all sorts of punk. hardcore, ska/punk, indy. whatever. i listen to everything from Green Day to The Offspring to Five Iron Frenzy to Rufio.
i'm going to stop now before i start ranting more.

same to me...

I was at the Kylie concert in Switzerland this year - it was quite good.
And I also was a fan of Madonna years ago.
But now I'm tired of their songs and Madonna is still way too rude and slutty sometimes (but that's what I think).

Mhmm funny...
Ayu is 24 years young,
Kylie 34 years and Madonna, I think, 44 years old.

LOL, funny you would say that because everyone in my school has started calling her Slutina Slagulerra. Sure it's mean, but she kinda had it coming to her.

Let me see. I like Pink and Shakira when it comes to pop. I'm in love with Avril Lavigne

And talking about bands (although they're not pop)... System of a down, Feeder (welsh band ), Foo Fighters, Q.O.T.S.A, Sum 41 are starting to get better finally, Offspring were good, Greenday rock, Crazy Town have recieved redemtion for there new song. I used like Linkin Park until they pulled a Limp Bizkit and completely sold out. I've also started listening to Disturbed.

what have I been smoking??

sorry n8, but one of the many benefits of being a fully-functioning human (besides being able to appreciate a delectable bag of doritos) is the added option of "free will." first off, i didn't refer to blink 182 and sum 41 as "pop." i called them "college rock." and for your information, i have heard all of their songs, including their new stuff (it's not by my choice, though. i have to listen to the radio at my place of work). in my opinion their songs share too many similarities (both lyrically and musically), and any attempt to discern a sort of "individuality" between the two bands is next to impossible. sure they can play their respective instruments, but just because one can play an instrument doesn't necessarily mean the end result of their "music-making" will be enjoyable. but hey, that's just me. you can listen to them all you want, i don't care. but it isn't your place to chastise me just because i dislike your taste in music.

take this for example: my brother listens to hardcore German industrial music (bands that a lot of people here in the states have never heard of). he knows i listen to j-pop and j-rock, but he doesn't like the stuff personally. he casually said to me once "i don't know how anyone can listen to that" (though he does admit that Ayu is "hot", haha). and it's not my place to try and convince him that he should like Ayu. i don't care if he does or not. i could give a rat's ass wether he does or not.

see what i'm getting at here? we (you and I) don't live in Nazi Europe or some archaic (by archaic i'm referring to a time period, not a level of advancement) central American culture (like the Toltecs or the Olmecs). we (at least you and I) live in the U.S.A., and the best thing about living here is you get to express your opinion freely. similarly, the worst thing about living here is you have to listen to the opinions of everyone else(like me), hahaha.

on a final note, to answer your eloquent question that was worded "what the fudge are you smokin, dude?" it's a mixture of tree bark, human bone, and catnip. any other questions?

i didn't say that you're the one who referred to them as pop. other people did. dang it, i typed that in three in the morning so most of what i say may differ from what i think when i'm fully concious. as for any other questions, can i have some of that?
i'm going to stop before i start on a linkin park rant.

I don't have a favorite artist, but there are a few songs I like currently. Here's some of them:

1. Kelly Rowland -- Stole (pop edit)
2. Santana & Michelle Branch -- Game of Love
3. Daniel Bedingfield -- Gotta Get Thru This (Stella Moore Edit)
5. Even though it's an oldie, Linkin Park -- In the End
6. That Nickelback guy and the other guy -- Hero (from the Spider-Man soundtrack)

And those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.
