Fiona Apple Album to be Officially Released (Finally!)

This just in from pitchforkmedia.com:

Quote:
Amy Phillips reports:
Fiona has been freed! And it turns out she was holding herself hostage this whole time. According to a press release on her website, seductively eccentric piano thrush Fiona Apple will FINALLY release her third full-length, Extraordinary Machine, on October 4 on Epic. As everybody and her mom knows by now, an early version of the album has been floating around on file-sharing networks for eons, with rumors that evil label execs were keeping the collection of quirky post-cabaret ditties locked in the vaults because they weren't commercial enough. Not so! Apparently, Apple just hadn't finished the record-until now. The Extraordinary Machine you're going to have to pay for (at least until somebody leaks it, too) will feature just two of the tracks us pirates are familiar with, alongside new recordings of nine of the previously leaked songs, and one new tune, "Parting Gift". And lookee here, you can listen to "Parting Gift", as well as the rejiggered version of "Oh Sailor" on Apple's website and Myspace page. iTunes will begin selling the two tracks together as one of them "bundle" things tomorrow, with other online music stores hawking them separately.

The new Extraordinary Machine was produced by Mike Elizondo, whose name you might recognize from the credits on various Dr. Dre-related records. (Fiona goes gangsta!) Soundtrack superstar/Kanye-friend Jon Brion helmed the leaked version, but the official album will sound "radically different," Elizondo told the New York Times. "Everything was done from scratch." Mmm...fresh-baked Apple pie, made from scratch. Can't wait to dive in.
YES! YES! YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS! Finally! YES! Woooooooooooooo!

I would be excited but you'll be shocked to know...

...I haven't heard a single song by her! *gasp*

I saw her on 'I Love the '90s' though. XD

I've heard the leaked tracks (couldn't wait any longer) and thought they were pretty good, being a fan of Jon Brion's type arrangements. I'm expecting the new arrangements to be great as well, can't wait for them!

I listened to clips of 'O Sailor' and 'Parting Gift' on my cell phone earlier. They sounded pretty sexyyay (thought 'O Sailor' was better, though), but I don't think anything'll ever beat 'Criminal' or her cover of 'Across the Universe' in my eyes.

i think Tidal is her most powerful and emotional record... (and really impressive for a debut album) so it's highly recommended for anyone who wants to get into her music!!! =D

no-one can miss her amazing Beatles' cover "Across The Universe", plus the video is a must-see...(the song is just released as a single, and it's from the "Pleasantville" soundtrack, and the main reason i want to see that movie :S)

finally Fiona will release her new album!!! i have some big hopes about the album sales, mostly because everyone's expecting her comeback, so it would be amazing is she sells a lot even without doing very much promotion... ^^

I personally thought When The Pawn was a lot better than Tidal (which sums up exactly what 'teenage angst' is exactly), as it shows a lot more maturity. Fair enough though. I think Extraordinary Machine will indeed sell a lot, and it deserves to do so as well.

I've been looking all over the net for Fiona's downloads and I came across a site which was forced to shut down because it distributed free songs!!! Now thats cool! But still no sites that offer free goodies... However is there any of her good songs any of you can upload? I really do want to listen to her songs...

I'll upload some in a couple of hours when I get back from work. In the meantime, you could try using DC++, Soulseek or any other program to find her music. Googling won't help much.
