Other Copy-Protected CDs Hit North America and Possibly Europe

In addition to Avex's CCCD, there are other Copy-Protected CDs out there. Instead of completely preventing people from copying tracks onto their computer, the songs are simply looped over and over again. That means, ripped mp3 are the same 15-20 seconds of the song is looped in circles to make the track the same length of the original. I didn't realize this until a few minutes ago when listening to a few songs from No Doubt's album that were looped around about 30 times but matched the songs' original lengths. Does anyone know any others?

So far these are the only ones I know that are under this protection:

No Doubt -- Rock Steady
Eminem -- The Eminem Show (I haven't heard it, but heard about the same copy protection from those who have it)

After hearing about this, it's made me extremely mad at record companies for doing this. All I was intending to do was sample the songs then decide if I want the CD or not, but now I have the same 15 seconds of the songs repeated for nearly an hour. -_-

Here is a longer list of Copy-Protected CDs from around the world:

These are the music CDs that:
1. Prevent you from copying it for personal use or from playing it on computerized devices (computers, DVD players, game consoles like PlayStation, MP3 players, consumer CD duplicators, high-end stereo equipment and car CD players).
2. In the United States, Canada and the UK, these "copy-protected" CDs are often unmarked. Once you buy it, you can only exchange it and hope that the replacement isn't defective too.

that's a lot of cds..... um.... yeah, i guess that sucks- kind of funny though, because with the 8 Mile soundtrack comes a little computer desktop that allows you to download new music from eminem and his buddies for free- so it's kind of odd that his other cd would prevent cd ripping.... oh well, I don't listen to the majority of the cds listed anyway- yeah it sucks, but it's a legal thing, technically we're supposed to pay.

I can see the reasoning behind it all, but it's still annoying for an avid mp3 downloader like me. It seems like people always find a way to rip the songs anyway, so I'm not too worried.

haha people like edenzone will always find ways around it!

sucks for me too, since i have a netMD, i can't copy the cds to mds unless i do it manually, grr!

yeahp. looks like i'm definitely heading toward korean cds. they even have those stupid exe files that play the music, yet you can STILL rip the sucker for mp3s.

There's always people around the net that find new and more advanced ways of ripping. I wouldn't worry so much but at the same time, MAN does that suck or what.

Record companies are greedy freaks. I don't really care anymore. If I wanted to get an mp3 of a CD that I have, there are plenty of ways to get it. Oh well.

Exactly... all Avex releases since last October are supposed to have that technology. I downlaoded BoA's "Valenti" album just the other day. Before that, I downloaded Do As Infinity's "True Song", and even before that, Misia's "Kiss in the Sky" album -- all avex label albums that have come out since October. And as for Ayumi's CD... I have it on WMA format, and I downloaded it the day it came out. So it's not hard.

dun worry there is always a way to copy song... one way that they will hardly protect is when u copy a song by using two devices ^^ get the output and plug it in to the input of your comp... then record it... and the quality should not be down I guess cause there is a lot of good type of connection that that is imporved each day ^^ anybody know how good is optical connection?
