Sorry if this has done before but I had to share..okay so my mother came over to use eBay like she does every week and I had an Ayu tour DVD on and she was like..
Mother: "I can't understand a word she's is saying, is she Japanese?"
Me: "...Yeah"
Mother "She doesn't look Japanese"
Me: "..Oy"
Mother: "Has she had sugery or something?"
Me: "I don't know..no one knows"
Mother: "Well she clearly has!"
Me: "Well it's been speculated.."
Mother: "Really?"
Me: "You have no idea..."

Ah!!

Well... When i first started listenin' to Ayumi, my family hate her to death because they can't stand her voice then made comment like her music is drivin' 'em mad, but things have changed now! They're really okay with it. Sumetime even my sister whistle Ayumi's Rainy Day! Hahaha... She think Ayumi is really natural and beautiful! Hehehe... So is my moma too!

The comments on Ayu's voice never end - too high, too nasal, too everything. Plus, there's been a tendency here of calling her 'Ayumi Sta-in-me-nakie', basically meaning 'Ayumi I'm-naked'.

Well when my sister first heard Ayu's songs, she thought she wasn't so great (my sister first hear "Dearest")...my sister complained about Ayu's voice, haha. But now my sister thinks Ayu is okay....she's wanting to get into Ayu to see why I'm such a big fan.

Everyone else in my family doesn't really have an opinion over Ayu...and most of my friends don't really have an opinion on Ayu either XD They just all know that I'm obsessed with J-music... ^^;

My mother loves Ayu (well not exactly LOVE, but she recognizes her voice and listens to a CD I made for her...all upbeat songs, of course) but she loves Gackt more.

My friend asked a for a CD of Japanese music, and I put STEP you on track 1. She loved it, but not much else by Ayu. Most of the time I hear comments about her voice as well. C'mon, people, not everyone has to have a Mariah Carey/Soul-sister voice!

Haha here someone called her "Ayumi Ham-in-zakkie" which is roughly translated as "Ayumi Ham-in-a-little-sac" :p

Today, I was making an Ayu sig, and my Graphic Design teacher asked who she was, and said that she was really pretty.

My mom thinks that Ayu's pretty, but that's it. She also thinks I'm obsessed. (WTH?)

My mother's first reaction: "Ayumi sings like a bee!" Nonetheless she seems to really like her, as she thinks her PVs are very interesting and deep. She loves her fashion sense. When she sees Ayu-ish nails or an Ayu-ish dress she's like "OMG it's something Ayumi would wear!".

My non-anime fans friends' first reaction: "She sings like a duck but she looks nice. " They also think she's Chinese

My anime fans friends think of her as an "Inuyasha singer with bad songs" which is totally wrong. Then again, they only heard "Dearest" and "no more words" so it's not surprising. I don't like those 2 songs much myself.

i got lots of different reactions. now, i'm getting a kick of watching others reactions of ayu.
'eww, her stuff are so loud and nosiy'(when i play STEP you, fairyland....those upbeat songs at my workplace)these are what the aunties told me. but, when HEAVEN or rainy day starts to play, they will go' great voice!'
while the young ones(including customers) will either say,' why do you listen to japanese songs when you don't even understamd it?' or 'cool! Is that ayumi hamasaki you're playing? i love her songs like M.....'
