I think so...
The lyrics lend themselves to the emotions Sayuri has in the book. Plus the Panasonic Lumix CM with Ayu dressed like a maiko is too much coincidence...

I wonder if Ayu was inspired to write the song from the book

Hehe, did you watch the fanmade PV of Will? I thought the fan who put the Memoirs clips together for "Will" worked together really well.

I think the soundtrack of the movie consists of a lot of orchestra recordings. From what I can remember, the movie just had a lot of orchestra music in the background.

Yeah, it basically is.. orchestral music. xD

I think you could sort of relate it to how Crouching Tiger was mosting Yo Yo Ma [who.. again.. did Memoirs], except Memoirsh has no theme song like CTHD did with A Love Before Time.

I don't know why everyone assumes this just because she looked like a Geisha in the CM. I think it's a horrible Geisha song.

The music in the movie itself fits just fine I think. It was a very good movie considering it's of American making.

hehe i didnt watch the movie so i cant comment on the movie. but i think Will fits the movie.. well simply cos it has a traditional japanese feeling.

You can't compare everything in a kimono to eachother; And overall, the song has nothing to do with what the story is about, nor does it have a composition that matches the mood of the movie.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that. ^.^

I, personally, think the both the lyrics and the sound of the song fit the mood od the movie perfectly. I always thought that it'd be cool to have it as the end them that played during the credits. ^.^

See, if the Japanese ever decide to make a movie based off Memoirs of a Geisha, it's entirely possible to fit "Will" in. However, with the current American Movie, no, unless they remix it.

She'd have to re-sing it to an acoustic orchestra backing track b/c the current version of Will wouldn't fit the sound of the movie at all. It's not dark enough. I don't think Ayu has a song that really goes with that movie.
