Ayumi mentioned in mystery novel

I am currently reading a Japanese mystery (by an American author) that mentioned Ayumi in her novel. This is how she mentions her:

An animated billboard advertisement for Panasonic's new camera featured the singer Ayumi Hamasaki smiling down like an angel of the Tokyo night. Keep me safe, Ayumi, I thought to myself. And don't you dare take a picture of me in these clothes.
