Ayu cant seem to control her left hand in live performances....especially her left pinky...that thing is crazy...

You can see this in the new Jewel preformance that just came out.

It just tickles me...i think its cute..lol

What do you mean can't control, I think Ayu's gestures are her trademarks E: She does those in almost every concert, at least in ballads IMO..

I just think its cute the way she does left hand gestures when singing.

Yep I agree, it's cute and fun to watch : ) I'd like to know if that really helps during singing or is it just somekind of a choreography.

Ayu's hand gestures are very good, like it goes with her voice and music as well

imagine Ayu just sitting there...that would be more boring

....aaannnnyyyways i think Ayu has control of her left hand, because in the her under her profile where it says "other talents" she says she can write with both right and left hand.so that means she should be able to contol them both pretty well.

(P.S.im trying to write left hand now because she has inspired me...but its not going so well

and the hand gestures are necessary to display the emotion, how boring would it be if she just sat there just moving her lips, u gotta see the body motion to get the full effect.

lol... she is originally right handed... so i think its natural for her to hold the mic using her right hand and her left arm moves with the song.

It'd be quite boring if she just sat there, like a chunk of stone, pushing out the notes.

Most singers use their hands to 'tell a story' or something. :p

In Ayu's case, it's blindly direct an orchestra, but.. yeah you get what I mean.

If she just stood there, still, singing.. we'd have.. uh.. I dunno.

Before I got into Ayu, or any other kind of J pop, my friend was obsessed by Maki Goto. I caught on this obsession and watched a bit of her live performances/PVs and she's doing the same thing pretty often.

The only difference is that all her moves look awkwardly awkward while Ayu most often is able to make it gracious. Not always though.

every singers do some movements on their hands...
just to control their singing or something..
to balance maybe..

Or because their teacher told them.

Or because avex told them?

Or because they simply... are comfortable that way?

Anyway, it serves it's purpose, which is that people should take note of it, just look at this thread. It's something more that people will connect to Ayu, that's promotion.
