The Official Toni Braxton Thread

Man. I swear, there will soon be a plethora of "Official [Wawawawa] Thread"s soon.

So I'm sitting here listening to Candlelight and realizing: Toni Braxton, although she's often harder to understand than the teachers on Charlie Brown, is a damn good singer. She's often pitted with some great music, including many heartbreak and love ballads (she seems to love her some heartbreak songs, although they border on the generic).

You may know her for the ballads Breathe Again, Love Shoulda Brought You Home, or the classic Un-Break My Heart. You may know her steamy You're Makin' Me Hgh, her sassy He Wasn't Man Enough, or... well... yeah.

What're your thoughts on Toni and her music?

Anyone catch her during the American Idol 5 finale? What the hell was that?!

Discuss.

"Unbreak My Heart" is the only hit song. she has not produced a hit after that. it is a pity, but true.

No, "He Wasn't Man Enough" was pretty popular if I remember correctly. Most people only know her for "Un-Break My Heart" though, that was her biggest hit, I think. I remember loving that song waaay back when it first came out; I must have been in elementary school still.

Toni is like one of those R&B diva's that defined the early 90's music scene. "Un-break My Heart", "Breathe Again", "7 Whole Days", "Another Sad Love Song" (every heartbroken woman's anthem for like an entire month of her life; I can still hear my next door neighbor playing that song late every Saturday night), "You Mean the World To Me", "Let it Flow" (MY fav), "I Love Me Some Him" ...the list kind of goes on and on. And to this day, these songs are still on rotation at wedding ceremonies; esp. "Unbreak my Heart" for some odd reason.

Toni Braxton is just as you said; she's a damn good singer. I really hope that I'll be albe to see her perform in Las Vegas someday before her showcasing contract runs out. It's so rare to see singers of her stature and age; keep their voices/careers the way she has.
