Question about obis for CDs
On the obis, they have the release date for the CD usually in a box, but they'll have another set of number in the same order as the release date (for example Ayu's I am... album has 02.1.1 in a little box but next to it it has: an X and a L then 03.06.30 then "made" in hirigana. Does anyone know what these numbers mean

This isn't really believable, but seeing as how "made" means until, maybe it's the final date you can purchase the product? Or maybe the final date of production?
Judging by the CD scans at Divine Ayu, Daybreak was the last single with the "made" date, since the MY STORY era singles don't have it. The RAINBOW era singles are all OS versions, so maybe Japanese versions of those singles have it too.

Great question! ^^ I awonder about it, too... I also thought it has something to do with production, but the date usually is close to the release-date, so that wouldn't make much sense, would it?
By the way, nice observation criminal! ^^ And as "Memorial address" was the last album that had the "made" date written on it, I assume that all releases before it, had that, too. That would mean the RAINBOW-singles, too.

the L thing i dunno, but the X thing reffers about the first batch of production/printing of the album when you find this 再 in a circle next to the L it means that the cd is part of the re-issue, or the second or third batch of production
and the made thing is something like this 再06.04.02まで, this means that the production of the next batch will start after that date, or in other words the first batch production ending date, once that date comes, the label can choose whether start the production of the second batch or stop the printing of the cd. some albums are not dated for ending of production, mostly avex stuff is not dated, but other labels like warner music find more cheap to do this kind of productions packages. thus this is all i know about CD production, its not really something we study in our major, but sometime we get to talk about it. still i'm not sure whether it has a different meaning, but this is my bet

I'm not sure but I always thought that the second date was the permissable re-sale date. Before that date the CD can't be sold at discount, or used copies can't be sold by CD rental places.

The ones on the overseas versions says that they must be sold outside of Japan until a certain date.
