The Rival~The Saga Continues….

In mid July, Rhythm Zone released the debut singles of performing hopefuls Seara Ko-Jo (”JOY”) and Shion Miyawaki (”BOY”) under the premise of “The Rival”, pitting the former music school friends agaisnt each other in musical debut battle.

The results of the first challege officially declared Seara Ko-jo as the debut winner and she was given the opening performance spot at the final date of the A-Nation 07 concert. Given the overall results of the project, the girls fate has been revealed…

1. Due to poor sales of both debut singles, both respective 2nd singles were cancelled.

2. Instead, they will relese the singles under an independent label (suspected to be “Rhythm Republic”).

3. Both singles will include 1 song for 500 yen. Only 1,000 copies will be printed of each.

4. The singles will not be sold in stores.

5. They will sell them through their own means.

6. They will be re-signed to Rhythm Zone once all copies are sold.

7. There is no time limit.

8. It is no longer considered a “rival” project.

9. Each has a budget of 300,000 yen.

Wow, that's crazy. I know that avex put their artists on certain labels like rhythm zone, is it like indies or something? Sorry, I'm just a bit confused. Since Koda Kumi is a big time artist now, shouldn't she be out of the rhythm zone label and into like... avex label? Eh...... I'm confused. Thanks for the info.

^rhythm zone is mostly for RnB/Hip Hop acts under Avex (of course there are some artists like MAI who really don't fit, but at the same time, they can sign who they want where)

I feel bad for them on their low sales, but at least it looks like they'll get a second shot. I was wondering who won. XD

Remember that due to poor sales of both debut singles, both respective 2nd maxi singles were cancelled, as you know.
So they released new singles under an independent label and both singles include 1 song for 500 yen. Only 1,000 copies will be printed of each.
The first who sells 1000 copies first wins the competion and will be re-signed to Rhythm Zone.

- Seara's is called "1 to 3", it's more of a light pop song.

And Seara just sold her 1000 copies on March 24th.

In June, Shion website posted that she will release a new mini-album (CD+DVD) named "Dear" and its out on August, 6th.

It's awesome that Shion is releasing a mini-album! She was my personal favorite of the two but I would also like to hear something new from Seara.
