Ayumi in Canada
I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any stores in downtown Toronto that sells Ayumi's CD's. My local HMV stores and others dont sell them.
For anyone who lives here, I live in Mississauga, so anywhere near there would be fine. But im going to downtown this week! |

The thread title got me all excited lol.
Hm, I dont know of a particular chain of stores, and I don't know Toronto so I'm not of much help... but I'd check out mall directories and see if they have a store that sells lots of import from Asia... the one in Metrotown in Vancouver is called "Sakura Media", I don't know if it's the only one. But it sells Japanese CDs I think... check out anime stores and stuff? Maybe they carry Japanese CDs too...

At Pacific Mall there are actually two stores I usually go to to get my jpop cd's. They always seem to be official to me, though they are almost always the Hong Kong or Taiwan versions, as long as you're not picky and only want Japanese releases. The main store I go to is along the far east wall (the only one without windows. It's a small store that carries mostly cd's, it usually has posters of pop musicians on the window, around the middle of the row of stores. Sorry I can't be more specific, as I never remember to look at the names of the stores, I just remember what it looks like. Anyway, they have a small section of one wall with Jpop stuff, not much, but it's something.
The other store is somewhere around the center of the mall on the main floor. It sells mostly anime merchandise, lots of disney stuff too, one of it's "walls" is along a break between the stores, so you can see most of their stuff along that window/wall. They have one wall with cd's, again, with a rather small jpop section that's all non japanese releases, but still official cd's. Their prices tend to be slightly higher than the other store. Hope that helps! ^_^ |

Yes, yes. All that Kesteral says is true. I have been to The Pacific Mall many times(everytime I go to Toronto, I stop by for the entire day). They have a website you can visit to see the opening hours and exact address, it can be easier to figure out a way to get there also.
The second one mentionned is the one I bought my Ayu DVDs and CDs when I went there(now I buy them off Ebay or CDJapan, since I can't go to Toronto anymore). There is one store that sells a lot of DVDs, I noticed that they usually sell them between 10 to 20$: BE CAREFUL! I noticed that they most of the time have FAKE ones. If the DVDs and CDs are sold for under 20$ (unless they are a single), take the time to look at them carefully. The one with the 'good' ones, is the one with the teddy bears, plushies and EXTREMELY bright and color store. They usually have slippers of all kinds hanging from the ceiling in the doorway. One side of the shop is all glass so you can see inside. When going in the store, pass the cashier and to the left you'll see a wall full of CDs. There, about to the middle, you'll see the japanese section. Everytime I went, there were always between 3 to 6 Ayu CDs. Then, if you keep going down that same isle, at the end to the right, there are DVDs, and that's where the Ayu DVDs will be if they have some. Everytime I went there would only be 1 or 2, and I always ended up buying at least one. Yes, their price is a little more expensive, but they are official, real ones, they are not fake. They are all in good qualities, I never had problems viewing them. My only problem with The Pacific Mall, is that they don't have any posters. You can see stores that sell a lot of anime and other jpop/asian music posters, but I only found 1 Ayu poster and I have never gotten any other ones from there after that. The Mall has 3 levels I believe, the 2nd level is the one with all the fun stores. There are all kinds, and I always find it a lot of fun to go through there for HOURS. Just looking at all the things they have is fun! On the 3rd level, there is an arcade and restaurants. VERY VERY good restaurants. I always go there, there's a very big variety. The one I like is a mix of Korean and Japanese. Their menu is HUGE and have everything for all kinds of tastes and likings. Next to the Pacific Mall, there's another small mall with small shops. That's where I usually go to collect Hello Kitty things. I haven't seen anything of Ayu there, but the stores there have a lot of cute things if you're curious and have extra time. There are also restaurants there, but those ones look a lot more like fast food. I definitely recommend going if you're in the Toronto area. It's a little ways to drive or get there by bus, but it's worth it! |

Yes, Pacific Mall sells Ayu CDs, but I don't think that they are Japan Version. However, if you're not picky like me, then you should be happy.
My friend bought me the Japan Version of Rainbow for X-Mas a few years ago. She said she got it somewhere in Chinatown, Toronto. I should ask her and pick up a few more CDs...
