Here's the thing. I was on youtube searching for some Ayu videos and i came across this video that made me really sad. Click here to see it

so what i want to do is have a mature and openminded discussion about it here. And i apologize in advanced fot the HUGE txt that's up next XD

After watching the video (even tough i couldn't understand a lot of what she was saying due to the REALLY bad quality), i was a bit angry because the girl was bashing Ayu so much. It was really disrespectful to Ayu as an artist, but even more as a human being and a person. After that i started to read the comments on the first page and somehow found myself reading each and every one of those +/-255 comments. after reading all of them i didn't want to make my comment to her video because i REALLY don't see the point.

I can understand that some people don't like Ayu at all, and they are free to think that, but i hate when they start to talk about things they know NOTHING about. I also didn't like those coments that people were making to the video. there was A LOT of racistic insults thowards the girl that made me really sad and disappointed in Ayu's fans.

I have to say that Ayu is my No.1 artist in the WHOLE world, but i also love a lot of Koda Kumi's, Yuna Ito's and Utada Hikaru's music (and hate when people bash them too) and respect them as artisits.

The base of the video was that the girl hated Ayu bacause Kumi is 2nd to her and so is Utada. I really can't understand such people. Just because Ayu sells more doesn't mean she is better that anyone else in any way that should be taken in a offendive way.

A lot of people stated that Ayu sucks at singing and bashed her voice a lot.
I think that Ayu has a very good and beautiful voice, but there really are a lot of other singers that can sing better than she can. The "haters" said that she has a squeechi voice and sounds terrable. I have to say that on her first 2 albums she had a very nasal and high voice, but that is what was "in" at the time, and was probbably the most used singing style of hers. But when we look at all of her albums/singles/lives we really can see that the high and nasal voice isn't the only style she can sing in.

Ayu has a very strong voice that we can see in her lives, she uses all of her emotions and strenght when she sings and is always honest in her lyrics. Those are the things that i LOVE the most about her, and that's how she gives strenght to me and probbably most of her fans.

We all know that Ayu sings very nasal some times, but it's the same as how Kumi sings from her throat, so it really isn't fair to judge Ayu in that way.
I like a lot of Kumi's songs, and she does have a very good voice, but i don't like how her concerst go (at least the ones i saw). I don't like how she doesn't really sing most of the songs, but in the other hand like that she dances A LOT more than Ayu does. So there really isn't anything bad about either of them. They really shouldn't be compared AT ALL, and i just hate when people call Kumi a bi**h and stuff like that. She is free to do whatever she wants and no one should judge her.

Ayu really is the only artist that has me look up to her so much as a person by going trough so much in her life as a child, but even more by seeing all she's been trough as a singer. I think we ALL saw what was going on at the DOME TOUR when she didn't cancle the concert even tough she got hurt and had hearing problems (she came from the hospital so that the show goes on); and on the ASIA TOUR when she performed with her leg being hurt and in a cast. She has never given up on her fans and thats why she is being loved all over the world.

To get back to the video... I really hated the way A LOT of her fans responded to the girl by calling her a black bi**c and more ugly names. it was just too offending if you ask me. Sure what she did was wrong and all but racism is just too much!!!

that's why i wanted to discuss things with you guys here and hope to have a mature and racism free discussion with you.

I agree with this..sort of. I am a fan of Ayumi but I know and admit she does have a terrible voice, and her singing isn't too great either.

I still respect her though, and I do like her music even if it gets difficult to listen to a lot of it after a while.

It is fine, we don't even have to go racial in an argument about this. Unfortunately, some of the comments towards her were unnecessary but this is the racist world we live in.

However, you can't deny that she had it coming to her. She makes a video and posts it on youtube, because she feels that her opinion should be herd. Well guess what, you're not going to attract just supporters to your argument because its a big world out there. Especially since youtube is a free and public streaming video website, you're going to attract people who do not support you. And the manner in which she presented it, the language she used, it was inevitable that she pissed a ton of people off. Thas her fault and she had it coming.

As for her comments on Ayu, well I don't know. Click on the username and see the other videos that she made. Possibly one of the dumbest opinionated minds I've ever seen. Then check out her FM list. Her taste in music is pure garbage in terms of artists, except Namie.

Ugh, this video again =/? I remember this being posted before, but it was while I was a lurker so I never commented on it.

It's true, Ayu doesn't have a professionally trained voice. She really had no musical training at all until Max picked her up. Her family wasn't musical, her Nothing From Nothing mini-album was a joke, she doesn't have the background lots of musicians in Japan have. In all actuality, Max said "Hey, wanna be a singer?" and Ayu said "eh, why not."

HOWEVER, she, like many of the writers whom wrote what are considered the classics, suffered many personal traumas, and as a result, created what set her apart from all those singers who where basically her with different music: her lyrics. I full heartedly believe that it was not her voice that Japan fell for, but what she was saying. Relate able, personal, and, more at the beginning than now, anything but generic.

Ayu, more than any artist, also has an amazing ability to express her emotions through her voice. I find a lot of times, listening to other artist's studio recordings that they're sort of dead, lacking in emotion. Now, they may perform it emotionally, and that's all good, but it's missing from the studio recording. Not Ayu. Maybe it's because her voice is so normal, so much more human than these icons of popular music, but you can definately get the emotion of her songs from her voice alone.

Her voice isn't perfect. And that's another plus about her, I think. The fact that she's not perfect all the time, and that she can convey emotion so well, reminds us that she's human. It's incredibly relate able, and makes her seem like less of a diva, and more like your average person.

The person on Youtube is allowed to have her opinion, and I respect that she doesn't like Ayu, but I don't respect the way she went about expressing it. It went beyond a mere stating of opinion and seriously crossed into bashing.

whatever - i think ayumis voice is absolutely amazing. when she started out it wasn't so good, but she has improved so much and i love love love her voice now. seriously, i don't really get the point of bashing an artist you don't like, if i don't like an artist i'll just stay clear of them, not try to announce to the world that i dislike them and pick them apart piece by piece.

I saw it on YouTube, but never watched it. After she said, "She's pretty, but she can't sing," I decided not to watch it. Not that I was thinking, "Well, you don't know what you're talking about." I just don't like to watch videos that bash Ayu. I don't find them offensive, but I'm obviously a fan, therefore like to watch the good things about Ayu.

cos i am 100% clear that as a singer, there bound to have people who adores her, as well as people who hates her. I bet there are many Koda Kumi lovers AND haters in this forum as well.

I mean, this is how society works. One cannot satisfy everybody. I still like ayu so much because i feel that she has fulfilled her duty as a role model. Her songs/actions inspire listerners to strive for the better. Her work ethics are also commendable. She has a healthy image too.

So in view of all these plus points, i really cannot be bothered about what ayu haters say about her.

ayu's got talent...she can act, dance, and sing. i really like her voice, and when i watched her documentaries and see her sing with out any background music, just her voice wows me.

i admit ayu is not perfect, i admit she does not have the best voice, but that doesn't mean some hater need to go and bash about ayu...i seriously don't see the point about bashing...you're just showing yourself as a person with no dignity, someone who's obvious very bored enough to make a video like that...if you like kuu, or namie , and hate ayu...that's your opinion..and there's no need to broadcast it...you can just complain about it with your friends at school or whatever...and if you want to bash someone, at least say their name right.

I think Ayu is certainly the best singer. She has so many fans all over the world. She can hit so many charts. She attain alot of best selling albums and singles. She has great talent and her own style. Ayu has so many strengths and those people who dislike Ayu, i would say they have no taste..
