Actress/singer Kuroki Meisa's debut album hellcat climbed all the way to the #9 spot of the Oricon charts in April. Now the talented artist launches her first single, SHOCK -Unmei- , a dance number perfect for the hot summer season.

Kuroki's single release also features the side tracks Wasted and the Bachlogic Remix of Bad Girl.

which edition of hellcat you bought ? I initally bought the CD only but then I mailed out my copy to someone instead as I decided to buy the HK press ; CD + DVD from HMV HK xD xD

I bought the CD+DVD HK version from Yesasia!! I didn't have enough to get the Japanese version U.U but I'm really happy with this one! shes soo pretty xD

actually guys for a mini album & the fact that it's her 1st release , it did even & waaay better than my exceptations

I was expecting that it might flop big time (like never charted & etc) but Kuroki really surprised me

so it will be interesting to see how SHOCK -Unmei- will fare

True. And her label didn't exactly promote it like they should have. Putting all these factors together, I think the sales make sense. Well, it's fine, as long as she maintains a big fanbase, which I think she already has due to her roles in multiple dramas.

Like others have said, considering factors like it's her debut and the lack of promotion, Meisa's sales are pretty darn good. I think the fact that she even debuted in the top 10 is quite an achievement - especially in Japan, which, I understand, is the 2nd largest music market in the world.

Also, I don't think Sony would've bothered putting out a follow-up single so soon if they considered the album a failure. It doesn't make sense to invest more money into an artist that you don't have confidence in.

And I also think it's pretty neat that the limited edition of hellcat is sold out at YesAsia, CDJapan, Tower Records JP, and Amazon.co.jp (HMV Japan still has it available though ). Doesn't sound like a flop to me at all.

And yay for Meisa's second thread!

For some reason I only seem to care about rankings now... I don't think sales really determine how popular an artist is. It just states how much $$$ they make.

I don't recall seeing any form of live promo that Kuroki done to promote hellcat too , Alicia

I guess the acting side of her really helped hellcat's sales so much to a certain extent & hopefully the same thing will go for SHOCK -Unmei- since she's currently staring in a new drama called Ninkyo Helper which I hope it will be subbed soon

yeah I really thought that the covers of SHOCK -Unmei- might have some association of sorts with the PV
