As much as I love Ayu, I can't listen to just her for a whole week, my music taste thrives on many different artist and if I listen to just one person then I'd probably go insane.

Lol I do this anyway. I go through phases where I ONLY listen to Ayu for like, a month and a half. D: I do the same with other artists--I'll go through their entire discography and be more than happy to just spam the hell out of my iTunes and iPod with all their work and nothing else. It's been that way since 04 when I started listening to Rammstein, and Ayu carries that tradition today.

I'll be starting on one of the several playlists I made of hers last week, which is "Life in Repair: Ayu." Life in Repair is kinda... a story idea I've had going on for a while (but that's not the title, just a working one) and I've gone through every Ayu song I have to find those that nicely fit the theme, emotions and characters of the story.

I've actually tried listening to other J-Pop artists exclusively and while I do enjoy some of the songs, as a whole I don't find these songs as meaningful or enjoyable to me as Ayu's music. This is EXACTLY how I feel about Ayu's music. Sure, I listen to other artists (Hikki, Angela Aki, Namie, Kuu, OLIVIA) but I think with the exception of one (OLIVIA) I can't say that I'm as engrossed in their music as I am with Ayu's. Her entire collection of albums, styles, songs, themes, moods, reflections just speaks to a deeper part of me that NONE of these artists touch upon even nearly as frequently. Hikki might be a close third behind OLIVIA, as a few of her songs are truly brilliant and beautiful, but with Ayu I just feel this pull that's inexplicable to me. No other Japanese artist can come anywhere close to it.

I think some of you are overracting bit. Well, not overracting but....I don't know. lol I know we can't control music we might hear outside and other stuff like that. I live in dorm filled with rap-listening people who blast their music loud as hell.

Well as long as it's not Japanese, you can listen to another artist. lol So, you can listen to UTADA but not Utada Hikaru.

Get wat I'm sayin'?

A week is still a long time to listen to one artist straight. After about 3 days, I'd be sick of the artist.

I think i've been "graduated" from this kind of challenge/idea, not only for a week, i/m sure that i can do so for a whole year or maybe 4ever(that's why i use this username, it's not a random username).
Cause i've always and only listen to ayumi hamasaki's songs since became her fan for the first time, and that was since around May 2006.

I don't listen to western music anymore either, I never listen to radio, or watch music channels.

If I'm at home: Ayu
If I'm driving: Ayu
If I'm at work: Ayu

Seriously.

She has done enough songs in so many different moods and styles that they're is something for every occasion. I just can't get bored. I've got playlists for Ayu Rock, Ayu Upbeat, Ayu Unsung, Ayu Classics, etc. and then some random mixes of songs spanning different lengths of her career that I think go well together, and some just a complete mix of songs that I just love, and then of course her albums. That is a lot of playlists and a lot of playing time. If I fancy a change of style, I'll just pick one I haven't heard for a while ( "a while" perhaps being a few days or a week). I just go round and round.

And I haven't got bored yet.

I know a lot of you will think I'm being sad, or missing out, but I don't care. I love Ayu's music, I love Ayu, She's all I need.

hm, it might be possible with ayu, but right now I don't feel like it. maybe when her next single comes out.

the kuu-athon was much harder. I gave up after half a week, because I was so bored by her music, lol. her voice is great and I can listen to it forever, but some stuff just doesn't get stuck in my mind and sounds the same.

anyone wanna do a namie-athon? I feel like that right now.

Well if you don't count any other music than what you purposely pick while listening your iPod/mp3-player to a "music you listen to" this should be easy

But I won't start avoiding watching TV and every single place where music could be played for Ayu..

I like putting ayumi on shuffle don't get me wrong, I love grooving like that on weekends. But I like taking breaks in between.

LOL As it turns out I forgot about some stuff that was coming out this week so I can't. It's a shame too cuz I started yesterday and listened to like 10 or more Ayu songs >.<
