But no, she's half naked in the damn cover, probably it doesn't have any meaning, she's crazy and suddenly changed her mind and values built through all these years, the description of the album being a "concept album" doesn't change anything, let's just burn this thing with fire. Personally, the argument of "the general public couldn't understand so it was poorly executed" doesn't work for me, since a long time ago her albums stopped to be for the general public and were based purely to her fans. I think now she's trying to change it. And for a good reason I must add, because her fanbase is really something... Damn. |

^The worst part is... She is ALWAYS half naked! She is KNOWN in Japan for showing skin since LOVEpperas! And not only her, considering Koda and AKB48 are still around!

i think it's because people are taking everything too lieterally these days, none bothers to give a second thought.
I mean i myself take nothing too seriously in general when it comes to music stuff, and i just thought the PV was dumb visually nothing else, but people started seeing things. And i ended up reading few comments that were actually explaining the meaning bechind and i thought that was cool, regardless that the pv looked cheap. In all that matters her major fanbase is IN Japan, i don't think there will be a single person who would even say that she's giving a bad message out with it, cuz they just probably do't really care. I'd say there's one lesson to learn here - if ayu did something contraversial in her musical image, there must be a good reason bechind it. She's no AKB.

How come so many don't seem to see it this way? If the intent was to say she literally is running to lose weight to get her love then we would have seen her shrinking in size, wouldn't we? And come on the Ayu thing wasn't/isn't going to be her literally changing into her or the guy choosing Ayu over the protagonist. Well I guess in time Ayu's explanation and the proper ending will clear the questions.

I see nothing wrong with her explaining what she wanted to do. Ayu's work is beautiful because it's so deep, it can bend to multiple interpretations. That's the mark of a good job, when you can always find new sides of it or interpret it with you own personal vision. But what's wrong with not understanding Ayu's point of view and wanting to desperately know it? They kind of had to explain Party Queen concept to me (even if I didn't think it was a "party party" album anyway) and that explanation made me appreciate the album so much more. It's good to talk about something to understand, to share doubts, it's really good for artists to help with it if they feel like it, and it's definetely fine to be disappointed because you hold her as a role model. It' a burden for Ayu, but for me it's also a beautiful thing. A little drama never hurt nobody, it spices things up. Drama is a face of loooove (when it's not hate, mind you).

How did Party Queen jump into this conversation?
Not that it bothers me because I stan for that masterpiece♥ Party Queen's theme is like one of the most easiest themes ever on a Ayu album. It should have been easily understood because party queens are usually very lonely after all. :/And the concept of Feel the love is imo quite easy to understand if you really think about it. It may have been represented in a very unflattering way at some parts but I saw past that at once. For me it was easy to see what it was really about and it amazes me that some people just don't. And I'm also a fat girl. I wasn't offended. It made me feel happy. :p |

Well, sometimes you grab the general meaning, but the details are still unclear. Example very off-topic: I understood right away the loneliness, darkness, seriousness and subtragedy of Party Queen, and I loved it for that. But then talking with others all kind of details came out, more and deeper explanation about the covers and concept, and how she wanted to depict how the general public sees her, and how the covers were kind of supposed to be like tabloids images, and more. You see, I grabbed the feeling, but discovering details and other interpretations, and insteresting theories, made me love the covers too, and made me feel more the song and understand more the interview, everything was better (even if I liked Party Queen very much from the beginning). Let's say I was more into it. Same thing with FIVE. Just to say. |

Artists usually don't explain themselves because art must be open to interpretation. This is the beautiful thing: everyone searching for their own meaning behind the work.
But Ayu's western fanbase gets SO offended about shit that she knows she either explains her release or lose those offended fans. |

The thing is that some of those fans NEED to hear it directly from her and won't listen to speculation because it's 'grasping at straws'.

free interpretation?.... my b**t! XD
if you can't make your message clear in your film so your work is deficient and not well done let the people make free interpretationS of open ends, surealistic videos or conceptual symbols. not a dance video. |

And the same happens over and over again, it never happened a situation were nobody could get what the concept, idea or message was. So, according to yourself, the message is always clear. What is normal, considering she never released anything THAT deep or THAT hard to get... It's everyday pop music. Now, if you can't get the message, well maybe it's not her releases lacking, but your interpretation. =) Last edited by Andrenekoi; 29th November 2013 at 07:29 PM. |

lol I wish ayu didn't have to explain herself, people should have more patience =P
Most knew ayu wanted to convey the message it did, but I understand how people or people who are not her fans could confuse it with the -first thing only visible-. It's good that there will be an extra. |

Let's try and keep this discussion a step above "your opinion is just wrong, and that's that". If there's no other points to make, the conversation has run out of steam.

Awww, I thought her response on Twitter was really sweet! She knows how to respond to criticism well.
I doubt the ending of the video will change my mind though lol. Last edited by mi|kshake; 29th November 2013 at 10:10 PM. |

I thought the pv was cute but it could have been better. It reminded me a lot of Startin' and Beautiful Fighters pvs with the sort of "celebrate yourself" theme. I would have like there to have been more scenes with Ayu and her dancers spliced in there so it didn't seem so redundant.
I also wanted to comment on a couples of things, 1. When ayu came out with Party queen and the covers, I instantly knew it wasn't going to be some sort of sex trash fest or anything like that. Clearly it was a tounge and cheeky thing and anyone who knows Ayu knows that a superficial theme is never just that, its always has a sad painful dark twist. Just like on MY STORY the cover was pink and she was in lingerie on that cover and the album had nothing to do with that at all, actually it was quite the opposite! On I am, Rainbow, she wasn't wearing anything but but you never hear anyone go on about that instead those looks are praised and held as legendary. 2. I don't know why everyone is hating on her showing skin. Honestly, compared to pretty much everyone else Ayu is very modest and conservative with how much skin she shows. Even if she is half naked, I mean we have yet to see naked pics or her having sex with anyone on camera or in a pv so if anything she should be commended! So i don't even know why that was a topic of discussion. Last edited by hsienko; 29th November 2013 at 11:25 PM. |
