The point of the segment was to mimic/imitate the artist. If misono sang in her regular voice it wouldn’t be mimicry.

About that misono cover: i hope you all know that that show is about impersonating or? That is not the way misono sings, thats her trying to imitate certain behaviors by ayu and I do think it came quite close.

It's more like a culmination of Ayu impersonation.

Ayu wasn't so nasally during Voyage promotion. She could still hit high notes, and her vibrato and singing style really started to change here.

The nasally tones certainly weren't gone, but for Voyage in particular I find the nasally imitation to be what's throwing me off. Because most performances weren't sung in such a way.

So it's like she took every singing style attributed to Ayu and put it into one performance.

It would be like dressing and imitating her singing Depend on you circa release but with vibrato. Or imitating her singing How beautiful you are with a nasally high pitched tone. Just two different periods in her singing style.

Have to agree as well. 'Secret' was the first Ayu album I heard, I think. It was around this time that I found out Ayumi Hamasaki...from researching Wikipedia and music of Japan.
