hahaha, promoting the next songs of a singer. They're meant for publicity.

There the same, PV/MV...I like PV better, 'cause that's what they really are...people don't make it just for the viewers sake...

On-topic: I always called them 'film clips' or 'music videos'. I had no idea what CM meant until recently, either.

Off-topic: Is that Ai Otsuka in spyro's avatar and signature? And does that writing translate to "kuroge wagyuu joshio tanyaki 680 yen" (salty grilled tongue of black Japanese beef 680 yen)?

It's just the Japanese expression for "music video". They say "puromoshon bideo" ("promotion[al] video"), and sometimes abbreviate it as "PV". I guess people just correspond the music videos of one country with the word that country uses.

i think they're just calling it they way it should be called -- after all, a "music video" is nothing else than an advertisement/commercial of an artist (and MTV is a channel that broadcasts commercials almost 24/7) used for nothing else than promotion... that's all it is. that's why it's promotion video. a video to promote.

I dont know what MTV is like in the USA or erlsewhere, but I havent watched MTV in germany for like half a year now, cause all they show are annoying mobile phone ringtone/wallpaper/game/etc. commercials and maybe 6 hours of music a day. And that just aint my idea of a music station.

Anyways: PV = MV
