Jpop vs. Jrock sales and popularity

I was just wondering: how do Jpop and Jrock compare in terms of sales and popularity? I've way long since grown out of my Jrock phase (I barely listen to any Jrock anymore), but I still never see them on any of the oricon charts. Maybe I'm just never looking on days when big Jrock artists release stuff, though. :/

So is Jrock even that popular in Japan? Usually pop in general tends to have a bigger following in most countries, but I just never really hear anything about Jrock. I suppose it probably doesn't help that this is mostly a Jpop-oriented forum, so there are probably more Jpop listeners on here than Jrock.
