Keep in mind that the meaning of the Japanese word she generally uses (許す
yurusu) is most often translated as
to forgive, but it carries the connotation of
to relieve,
to set free,
to let go. She is saying that she wants to move on from her past, and not hold on to the bad things that have happened.

Like ex said, I also have read that she doesn't particularly care for
poker face. In addition to her grandmother dying on the day of the song's recording, she also had much difficulty setting her feelings to the melody. She couldn't find the right flow of words, and went through several versions before settling on the one that ended up being recorded, on the day of the recording.
I believe I read this in an article on masa's page, as well.

You'd be surprised. She has released just under 100 original songs, and while every writer has their own style (some write ONLY from non-personal experience & some even write ONLY fiction), I have written over 300 songs, myself, and all but 1 are based on direct personal experience. It's entirely possible to write that much about your own life. The trick is to write about the same events from different perspectives. Ayu loves doing this, and that's how we get a lot of great songs (like the Trilogy).
